ELD Think Tank: One Session ONLY! April 30, 2019
We will learn, grow, and celebrate as a whole department once again on April 30, 2019 at the Hope Online Learning Academy (373 Inverness Parkway). Our ELD Think Tank will begin at 8:30 and end at 3:00.
We will be joined by guest presenter and author of The Imagine Project, Dianne Maroney. We are truly looking forward to learning from her. Our ELPA Excellence Award funds have been leveraged to host this event.
Substitute Teacher Coverage
If you are a secondary teacher, you will need to consider whether or not you require a sub. Consider the following when determining your need:
- If you teach three or more ESL classes as the only teacher of record, you require a full-day or half-day substitute depending on your schedule.
- If you co-teach or push-in all day, you do not require a substitute. If your principal wishes for you to schedule a substitute, your school will pay for the substitute.
- If you teach fewer than three classes as the only teacher of record, you should obtain class coverage. If this is not possible, you should request a half-day or full-day substitute based on your actual need only as absolutely necessary.
- If the above applies, use the code "ELD-ELD Other Training".
ELD Celebration - Save the Date!
The ELD Celebration is an annual event that draws families from around the district. You should have received a calendar invite. Soon, you will receive invitations to distribute to the families you work with. Please look for that and encourage families to attend. New this year: we will have a drop- in session 4:30-5:30 where parents of middle school and high school students can speak to other
Last year, we had an overwhelming response of 400 families. With your help, we can beat that number this year. We will be reaching out to you next week to ask which stations you would like to help with. Your time is greatly appreciated and families love to see you there. Please take a moment to invite your administrators and those who work closely with our ELs. Feel free to put this in an email to invite others.

A Message from Human Resources
It's that time of year to double check license expiration for those in your building holding licensed or administrative positions. Currently, Human Resources notifies all licensed and administrative employees 90 days, 60 days and 30 days prior to their CDE license expiration. When licenses expire the licensed employee will not be eligible to remain active in their position while their license is expired as this is a requirement of the job. Questions, call 720-433-0140.

WIDA Workshops at Summer Summit: Intro to the WIDA Standards AND Differentiation
- May 29: Introduction to the WIDA Standards . . . This workshop is designed as a first exploration of the WIDA ELD Standards System. Participants will have a guided tour through each component with practical suggestions for incorporating components into instruction. This workshop is designed to be interactive with ample time for processing and application.
