FJVD Weekly Info

We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear FJVD Families,

I hope and pray that parent teacher conferences over the past two days have been a fruitful experience for you and your child. Effective communication between home and school is such an important part of a successful educational experience, and conferences are a wonderful opportunity for this. I look forward to continuing to work with you to ensure your child's continued growth and success at Fr. Doyle!

In addition, I want to thank you for your patience and flexibility as poor weather forced us to postpone our Walk-a-thon & Fun Run. I'm looking forward to sunny skies and a great event on Monday! Thank you so much for your fundraising efforts in support of the continued enhancement of our academic programs. A reminder that students should wear their gym uniforms for the Walk-a-thon on Monday.

Keep in mind that it's not too late to gather those last few donations to win some great prizes including a brand new bicycle! Also, we're still in need of a few volunteers for Monday - you can sign up here. Thank you!

Lastly, believe it or not, we are already gearing up for our first Open House of the year, to be held Sunday, November 3rd from 10:30am to 12:30pm. We appreciate you spreading the word! In addition, we currently offer a Tuition Referral Incentive. You could earn up to $500.00 off your tuition if you refer a family who enrolls at the school. You can find more information here, and on our website homepage under "FJVD Info" at the bottom.

As always, don't forget to check out the many exciting upcoming events under Upcoming Dates and Reminders including our annual Spooktacular and the Barrington Book Fair!

Have a blessed weekend!

Go Saints!

Sincerely,

Mr. Peloquin

Volunteer Opportunities

Yearbook Coordinators Needed

We are currently looking for parent volunteers interested in organizing our Yearbook efforts. This would include taking and collecting photographs, designing pages, and working together with our Lifetouch representatives to construct the yearbook itself. Good news! Lifetouch has moved to a more user-friendly design program. Little to no technical experience is required!

If you or someone you know may be interested in assisting with our Yearbook, please contact the school!

Fundraising & Contest Opportunities

Box Tops for Education

Keep Saving Those Box Tops!

The October Box Top Contest is in full swing!

Don't forget to drop off your Box Tops in the next few weeks, as the class that brings in the most box tops by October 25th will earn a free pizza party!

This is Your Chance to Name the Mars Rover!

K-12 students have the opportunity to name NASA’s next Mars rover. According to the Department of Education, “Entries must include a proposed name for the rover and a short essay of 150 words or less explaining the reasons for the name. NASA will select 156 state winners (one from each state and age group), before narrowing down to the top 9 entries that will be part of a public poll. The grand prize winner who will name the rover will be selected and announced in spring of 2020.”

The deadline is November 1. Students can sign up and submit their entries for the competition at https://www.futureengineers.org/nametherover. When registering please use the school technology class code so we can keep track of all students from FJVD who have entered.

Participate in the FJVD Certificate Program!

This program is a great way to reduce the cost of your tuition while supporting FJVDl!

The Process:

  • The school purchases shopping cards from all of your favorite stores
  • You purchase the cards from the school, paying face value and spending the same dollars you would have paid to the stores directly
  • The school earns a percentage discount offered by participating stores.

For each $50.00 you spend, you get a stamp on your Tuition Discount Card. Fill the entire card and redeem it for a $75.00 tuition credit!

Cards currently available include:

Stop & Shop, Applebee's, Barnes & Noble, Dave's, Dunkin Donuts Panera, Wal-Mart and more!

Stop by the school Monday-Friday 7:45am-8:15am, the Rectory Monday-Friday 1:45-2:15pm, or in the vestibule after the 7:30, 9:30 and 11:30am Sunday Masses to purchase your gift cards!

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up

Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
