FROM THE HEAD'S DESK
I spent two days away from Claires Court Junior Boys this week inspecting another independent school on Compliance and Regulatory matters. It is always a privilege to be allowed to visit and assess other educational institutions and this school was no exception. It also reaffirms to me how lucky I am to be leading such a wonderful school as Claires Court, and as I have said before, it is always very nice to come back!
Our boys have been very busy this week as they always are. We have been learning in assemblies how animals can teach us so many important human qualities in life, and there has been plenty of amusement taking lessons from meerkats, kangaroos and elephants over the past week. I was also able to praise Gursahej Bakshi for his brilliant performance at the ISA National Swimming Gala where he achieved a new personal best in the backstroke. He came 4th in this event and picked up a bronze medal for the 200m freestyle relay. We are very proud of his efforts.
Our Pupil Voice representatives visited Spinfield Primary School in Marlow yesterday to meet their school council and compare notes on how things are done! All the boys found it a worthwhile experience and have come back with some great ideas, which Mrs Stay and her team will be sharing with us shortly. Indeed, I have been really impressed at some of the sensible and constructive suggestions that have come through on my School Development Plan which your sons have had access to, and have been editing.
The rest of the week I will show you in pictures as they often tell better stories than I could possibly do! I hope you all enjoy a wonderful weekend and manage to stay out of the rain!

Year 2 have been enjoying using the software '2Paint a Picture' and 'Purplemash' to support their learning in Science and History.
Year 1 wrote about their own dinosaurs this week and then made them out of clay.
Year 3 boys are thoroughly enjoying reading 'George's Marvellous Medicine' together as a class. There have been a lot of giggles and gasps while they have been reading!!

Whatever the weather….
As the weather gets colder, may we take this chance to remind our parents of the School’s Emergency Closure Guidance in case we need to close the School due to adverse weather conditions.
FROM THE SPORTS MASTER
Last week I mentioned that Gursahej Bakshi represented the London West region in the ISA National Swimming Gala . I am extremely proud to report that he returned with a bronze medal for the 4x50m freestyle relay. What a fantastic opportunity to compete at world class facilities!
Unfortunately, this week the U9 & U11 fixtures had to be cancelled due to frozen pitches. The only year group able to play were the U10s at Caldicott on Wednesday. There were many closely contested matches and it seemed that Caldicott benefited from the home advantage in most cases, however, the U10A team gained a 4-3 win. Mr Barber was so impressed with his players that he awarded the first of the football star badges to Prabhan Kang, Oscar Helm and Alastair Dunning.

FROM THE CHESS MASTER
Thank you to all those boys who have signed up for the Delancey UK Chess Challenge. The entry for this competition is now full so I have now completed the draw for the first round. These games will take place at morning break over the next few weeks. This is not the only way to qualify for the Delancey Megafinal. Anyone wishing to use a faster route can enter one of the local qualifying tournaments run by Mr Dennis on Saturdays. The next one of these is on Saturday 11 February here at CCJB.
