Admin Update
As we approach the end of a great school year, we will soon begin the complex process of compiling class lists for fall of 2019. Should your child have specific needs, the Steeple Run staff welcomes any insight you wish to share to help us in this process. My hope is that you will trust in our ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff members who know your child and will assist us in placing your child in a class that best meets his/her needs. However, I also know that sometimes there is important information that you might feel a need to share about your child, and I will be thoughtful about the information you share in light of the bigger picture of creating balanced class lists. Together we will do our best to ensure each child is set up for success in the coming school year.
Sincerely,
Principal Louis
Thanks to the advocacy of our school community and the support of our district office Steeple Run will be partnering with Mutual Ground, Inc. Mutual Ground provides Sexual Abuse Prevention Education programming to students throughout the western suburbs. Mutual Ground is a social service agency located in Aurora, Illinois, and has been presenting these programs to local school districts, like Indian Prairie SD204 and Oswego SD308, for many years.
This program and many like it are in response to legislation passed in 2011 commonly referred to as Erin’s Law. This law requires that all public schools in Illinois develop a comprehensive plan for sexual abuse awareness and prevention education. As a measure to strengthen our current education found within our Social Emotional Learning curriculum Mutual Ground’s Prevention Education Department will be presenting a Personal Body Safety Program. This program will take place the week of April 1st and will discuss sexual abuse prevention at an age appropriate level for each grade level at Steeple Run as outlined below.
