Celebrating Our Military Heroes

We are in the process of creating a Wall of Honor for the military heroes in our lives to be displayed throughout the month of November. If your family has a military service person that they would like to include on our Wall of Honor, please send in a picture with a small write up of what they do to serve and protect our country. As Veteran Day approaches, let's all take time to remember all of those individuals who serve in our military, past, present, and future!

November is Picture Book Month

Read * Share * Celebrate!

Picture Book Month is an international literacy initiative that celebrates the print picture book during the month of November. Check out some great posts from picture book champion explaining why they think picture books are important. Check out those posts here: http://picturebookmonth.com/.

In this digital age where people are predicting the coming death of print books, picture books (the print kind) need love. And the world needs picture books. There’s nothing like the physical page turn of a beautifully crafted picture book.

Join the celebration and party with a picture book during November, Picture Book Month.

Your Principal's Favorite Picture Book

To celebrate Picture Book Month, each week in November, we will feature a favorite picture book of one of our staff members. This week Miss Karnes shares a new favorite of hers, Red and Lulu by Matt Tavares.

Red and Lulu make their nest in a particularly beautiful evergreen tree. It shades them in the hot months and keeps them cozy in the cold months, and once a year the people who live nearby string lights on their tree and sing a special song: O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree. But one day, something unthinkable happens, and Red and Lulu are separated. It will take a miracle for them to find each other again. Luckily, it’s just the season for miracles. . . .
