Parent-Teacher Conferences - Reminders

Parent/teacher conferences will be held Monday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 23. The conference module in the ParentVUE portal opened for parents/guardians at 12pm on Monday, November 8. View Instructions for how to schedule a conference are located here for assistance. Please note that you will need to contact your child's teacher directly via email if you need to make any changes after Friday, Nov. 19th.

Parent/teacher conferences are onsite and in-person unless otherwise requested. Please reach out to your teacher directly to specify the desire to have a virtual conference after scheduling your time.

South Kids Care, 2021

Thank you to the South community for once again being extremely generous and supporting South Kids Care. We are thrilled to have collected over $3000 (some donations are still coming in)!

All of the money collected will go directly to South families in need of assistance for the upcoming holidays. Your generous donations will brighten the holidays for many families. We are also very impressed with all the beautifully decorated feathers. This is our most colorful and creative turkey yet.

Our students should be proud to be part of this amazing South tradition. South Kids Care! We wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Picture Day Retakes - Friday, Nov. 19th

If your child missed picture day on Oct. 14th, or if you are not pleased with initial pictures, retake day is scheduled from Friday, Nov. 19th at South. Parents will be notified when pictures are available to view.

PVSD Powerpacks Program

PV Power Packs is a weekend food program for students experiencing food insecurity. Bags of food, including 2 breakfast items, 2 lunch items, 2 snacks, and 2 fruits, are sent home with students prior to every weekend. There is no financial information required to participate in this program and students pick up their bags from their counselor or designated person every week.

We know everyone is busy getting ready for the holidays - take a break and grab something good to eat at the Royersford California Tortilla on November 16th from 4-8pm.

Be sure to say "SOUTH" when you place your order, and 20% of your check will be donated to South Elementary!

21-22 Yearbook Committee Update: 11/15/21

The yearbook committee thanks all of the parents and guardians for the positive response to the early yearbook sale! As of November 3rd, 121 copies have been sold! A portion of the yearbook sales benefit Home and School events. If you would like to purchase a yearbook, the link is included below. Prices are currently $18 for soft cover and $23 for hard cover; prices will increase to $21 soft cover and $26 hard cover as of December 1st. Please reach out to your child's school counselor if you would like a yearbook but you are experiencing financial difficulties. In addition, If anyone would like to donate a yearbook to somebody in need, please send an email to the yearbook staff.

The yearbook is on track to be bigger than ever and we are always looking for a helping hand. If you would like to assist by taking pictures at South events, in your child's classroom (at the discretion of the teacher), or during recess, please let us know via email. The time commitment can be as little (20 minutes) or as much as you can support. We even have opportunities to assist outside of school hours! Don't forget that your best photos from school sponsored events, bus stops can be emailed to us for yearbook consideration too.

Symptom Monitoring & School Attendance

Keeping your children healthy and in school is our top priority. We follow the guidance of the Montgomery County Office of Public Health. Symptom monitoring should be conducted at home every day before your child comes to school. (see attached form below). If a child comes to the nurse with one of the symptoms in Group A or two or more symptoms in Group B, your child will be sent home and will not be permitted to return to onsite learning until a differential diagnosis is presented or a negative Covid test is received. Please reach out with with any questions or concerns.

School Lunch Overview

All school lunches will remain FREE for the duration of the 21-22 school year. You can review weekly menu options here - Just a reminder that students will order lunch each morning in the classroom if ordering (there is no online order form this year).

Students will be seated at individual desks in the cafeteria again this year with a distance of 6 feet between all desks.
