How Often Do You Eat?
Millions of kids eat less then once per day.
Have you ever lived in a place with dead children or kids on the verge of death everywhere you turn?
Poor nutrition plays a role in at least half of the 10.9 million child deaths each year--five million deaths. A undernourished child dies every 3.6 seconds(Statistic Brain). In the amount of time it takes you to take a relaxed breath, a child, your age, younger or older, has already died.
Want to know how you can help?
Go to http://inside.unicefusa.org/site/PageNavigator/Monthly_Giving_2012.html?gclid=CO_Np7bHyLkCFcN9OgodjXsAmg (Unicef). By only donating $15.00 a month, you can supply twelve packets of high energy biscuits for malnourished children. Help a child not go to bed hungry for once.
Do you ever get stomach pains from not eating enough?
Global hunger now afflicts nearly a billion people worldwide. Severe acute malnutrition, however, is the more immediate killer: it threatens the lives of 19 million children. Every year at least 3.5 million of them die from malnutrition-related causes (Action Against Hunger).
Having good nutrition in the first three years of a child's life is important. Without good nutrition then, their development can be slow or not occur at all. It establishes a good foundation that helps with the child's future physical and mental well being.
According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 16.7 million children under 18 in the United States live in households where they are unable to consistently access enough nutritious food necessary for a healthy life(Feeding America).
Children who are poorly nourished suffer up to 160 days of illness each year (Hunger Notes)
