Improvements to Our Spaces
How We Spruced Up
- Installed new lighting over bulletin boards and the circulation desk
- Recovered the computer stools
- Bought two new blue sofas
- Bought 20 blue bean bags
- Built an awning (toldo) over the back windows to keep our AV area cooler
- New Shelf Signage in the ES and MS/HS
- New pillows in the ES story pit
How We Improved Access to our Collection
- We moved Young Adult books into the Fiction area to leave behind only middle grade books. Young Adult books often contain topics that may not be appropriate for grades 5-8, so these books are now found in the Fiction section for older students and adults.
Genre-fied Middle Grade section:
- Middle Grade books are now organized by genre. Students often ask for "Mystery" books or "Adventure" books, so now these are grouped together.
MS/HS Reorganized Graphic (Comic) Books:
- There are many types of graphic books, including fiction, nonfiction, and comics. These are now organized by type: novels, comics, manga, nonfiction, and biography
Libru: Reorganized by Topic / Character / Interest
- Students can now find books according to topic or interest using Picture labels
ES / MS / HS Weeding
- The Middle and High School weeded its entire collection.
- The Elementary school weeded its entire Nonfiction section
