News and Events for Hazel Grove Family & Friends

Message from Principal Hornback

Welcome to the 4th Quarter -

I am extremely proud of your children for demonstrating perseverance and focus in what continues to be a non-traditional school year. Although we feel like things are beginning to shift more toward normal, I want you to know that the health, wellness, and safety of all of our Hornets remains a concern and priority!

Mark your calendars for a few important dates as we continue to welcome families back to our buildings. On April 14, parents can visit the office for support and assistance with the registration portal and summer school enrollment - our goal is 150 students (we are currently at 91). You are also invited that same evening to join your child's grade level team for FAMILY MATH NIGHT. We will have games and treat for all who attend. We are in the planning phase for special events like Kindergarten RoundUp, Kindergarten and Fifth grade promotion. More information will come out soon for those dates.

Attendance matters as we close out the year. Please help us to meet our 95% goal EVERY DAY! For our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students this is especially important as we continue to participate in the KAP assessment. This is our opportunity to gauge how we have performed in supporting your child's academic progress. Although we anticipate every student doing their very best, we know our students are far more than a raw test score. Science testing the week of April 11th

As you look at the calendar, there are MANY ways to get involved. Please reach out to any of our staff for information on upcoming events. We want to close out the year with parents, families, and community members celebrating with our students and staff! We can't wait to see you.

Extended Learning Summer Program 2022

ALL elementary students will have the opportunity to engage in fun literacy and math activities that reinforce grade-level skills ensuring that students are ready for the next grade level. Students will also participate in social-emotional learning activities that build self-esteem and confidence. Science, technology, engineering and project-based learning opportunities round out a fun, full day of learning along with integrated arts opportunities.

Log into the Infinite Campus Parent Portal from your computer or phone app.

Once logged in, you will see your child/children listed in the parent portal. Choose your child and you will see their Summer Learning Invite. On this invite, you will see the assigned building for this child’s summer program. Most students will be attending their home school, but a few are different due to construction. Buses will be provided to get them to and from their location.

Please mark ACCEPT if your child will join us this year! Fill in additional items under ACCEPT if needed.

If this student has other plans for the summer, please choose DECLINE on their invite and submit. If you have more than one student, please open the invite for each student and let us know your plans. Doing this will allow the district to plan for the number of teachers, transportation, and meals that will be needed during Summer Learning. You will receive more details about Summer Learning, including bus routes and numbers in May.

Based on the new guidelines, school districts may temporarily suspend identifying specific susceptible close contacts potentially exposed to COVID-19 in classroom and extracurricular settings.
