Dear Jensen Families,
We welcome back our returning Jensen Ranch families and we welcome our new Jensen families. Jensen Ranch is a place for everyone. We value the contributions of all of our community members. This year will undoubtedly be very different from what we are used to or what would expect from a typical school year. We will have some of Jensen's students participating in the Main Option for distance learning and we have other families opting to participate in the yearlong Castro Valley Virtual Program for Elementary (CVVPE). Regardless of which program you have selected for your family, you are still a part of the Jensen Ranch community.
I will be holding a Back to School welcome and informational meeting on Monday, Aug. 3 from 5-6:30 p.m. via Zoom as I know families continue to have many questions about what this coming school year will look like. I will do my best to answer your questions and/or find the answers. In these challenging times where information is constantly changing, it will be essential that we remain flexible and collaborative as we work together to provide the best possible school for our students.

Our Castro Valley teachers and administrators have been working all summer long to prepare for a successful school year to ensure our students will have access to a challenging and rigorous curriculum. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will begin the school year with 100% virtual instruction for all students. Students will be participating in synchronous and asynchronous instruction throughout their day in both programs. When the time comes that Alameda County metrics deem that it is safe to reopen schools for modified in-person instruction, CVUSD will go through a phased reopening process for the students participating in the Main Option. Once the school year gets underway, we will begin to develop our AM/PM program and will provide a survey to families to help us develop our AM/PM groupings. The PTA will also be working to support families in connecting during this period of distance learning and providing valuable co-curricular options for afterschool hours to all Jensen students. Please see their PTA section below for more important information.
We do not yet have the final details on how the CVVPE enrollment will impact staffing at Jensen this coming school year. However, our class sections and staffing will be more solidified by the end of this coming week. Teacher assignments may not be available until August 12th due to the level of reorganization that needs to take place.
The online registration process opens Monday, August 3rd. Please see the information below on the steps to follow. You will also be receiving an additional email from the district so that you may access the new SchoolMint registration program that will allow you to upload the necessary documents needed to start the school year. The online registration does need to be completed in order to receive a class placement so contact our secretary, Mrs. Disher, if you are in need of assistance.
We will be collecting old Chromebooks and distributing new Chromebooks on August 12th during scheduled times based upon your child's last name (see information below). This will take place during the PTA Drive Through-Registration in our school pick-up loop where families will be able to collect pre-purchased School Supply Kits, pre-ordered Jaguar wear and turn in PTA membership and donation forms. See the sections below with more details on each of these specific activities.
School supply lists for the Main Option will be available later this week and will be emailed out to you.
There is much to process as we prepare for this school year. Please join me tomorrow night at 5 pm for the Zoom Meeting as I will review this year's instructional options, upcoming events and provide time for questions. The meeting will be recorded if you cannot attend and the link will be shared later this week for your convenience. Additional details regarding the start of the school year will continue to be rolled out to you. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have a question. The 20-21 Registration Process
Online Registration with School Mint
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year. Listed below are details about the new registration process. Please note that registration must be completed for every student regardless of what instructional program they have selected. Registration will include the completion of two steps in two different systems. These systems will open up on Monday, August 3, 2020 to start the registration process.
Step 1: Data Confirmation and Authorization
This will be completed in Aeries through your Parent Portal Accounts https://castrovalleyusd.asp.aeries.net/student/LoginParent.aspx?page=default.aspx
Step 2: Document Submission and Acknowledgements
This will be completed in the new School Mint system (castrovalley.schoolmint.net). You will receive an email on or after August 3 with information on how to access School Mint.
This new two-step process takes the place of our traditional walk-through registration. We will still have a modified Drive-Through Registration on Wed., Aug. 12 for Chromebooks, School Supply Kit Pick-Up, PTA membership/donations and Pre-Ordered Jaguar Wear pick-up. See detailed information below.

Welcome back to our returning families and a warm welcome to our new families! This is your first PTA email to jumpstart your new 2020-2021 school year! Since our school year is starting off with Distance Learning, we have announcements to support you during these times. We also want to reassure all Jensen Families, that regardless of the instructional options you have chosen, you will still have access to Jensen's PTA membership and PTA sponsored programs! We are all one big loving Jensen Ranch Community!
Just a few announcements:
*Jensen PTA will be hosting a mini Registration Drive-Through on August 12th as an opportunity to pick-up pre-ordered School Supplies Kits, pre-ordered Jaguar Wear, and to drop off PTA membership/donation forms. More information to come.
* Your PTA is here to help Jensen families connect with one another during Distance Learning. We will help parents find other parents with matched needs. Interested parents, please contact your PTA @ ptajensenranch.parents@gmail.com
* 25th Anniversary Jaguar T-shirts are still available for purchase at https://jensen-ranch-25th-anniversary.cheddarup.com
If you ordered 25th-anniversary t-shirts before 8/11, you will be able to pick them up on 8/12. You can also pre-order Jaguar Wear at https://jensen-ranch-25th-anniversary.cheddarup.com for pickup in late September.

As always, JRE's PTA is committed in helping our school provide an exceptional education that we all want for our children in this community. Even though this year will bring its own challenges, your PTA is continually working hard to provide (virtual) Music lessons to K-3 and Art Education to K-5, document mini cameras for our teachers to help ensure the highest quality of Distance Learning, as well as providing families with learning materials and social support.
