Advent 2019
"During Advent we are called to enlarge the horizons of our hearts, to be surprised by the life that is presented each day with its newness." ~ Pope Francis
As we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus, Advent is a season when we reflect on what God is bringing to birth in our own lives. Advent is an opportunity to discover more fully the person who God created us to be. What a gift to be able to do so!
Advent is a PERFECT season for us as we approach the end of a semester! It offers us an opportunity to step out of the busyness of the semester and slow down and listen for the voice of God found within each of us.
Today we begin a journey of moving forward in hope and finding light in the darkness. Our Advent journey begins tonight at our 7:00PM Mass.
Advent Peace,
~ Jamie
THURSDAY: Service of Winter's Light 2019, An Interfaith Celebration of Peace and Hope
Thursday, December 5, 2019 7:00PM to 8:00PM ~ Linehan Chapel
Join us for a wonderful tradition at Nazareth College!
The Service of Winter's Light: An Interfaith Celebration of Peace and Hope is a way for our campus to come together at the end of the semester to find grounding and perspective in a world that at times feels fractured and uncertain. This service is scheduled on the eve of Reading Day and is meant to be a time of reflection during the busyness and stress of the end of the semester.
This service will include readings and reflections from a number of the various traditions that celebrate holidays during this time of year, including Advent, Christmas, Diwali, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Winter Solstice. Music will include Nazareth Chamber Strings and Chamber Choir.
The service will end with an outdoor candlelight procession - please dress warmly!
Hot chocolate and cookies will be served afterward.
Sponsored by the Center for Spirituality, the Department of Music and the Nazareth Undergraduate Association.
