Upcoming Dining Nights - April 23 and May 9th
Our next dining night will be at Culver's (on Sunset Drive) from 5-8 pm on Tuesday, April 23rd. Here's your chance to take the family for a delicious butterburger and some custard and help you school at the same time!
On May 9th, Orange Leaf will host a dining night for Rose Glen from 4 - 9 p.m. Maybe dessert for dinner on this date?? If not, then at the very least go there for dessert...creamy frozen yogurt with your choice of toppings. YUM! What could be better?
Guatemala Connection News
Rose Glen Families, you did it again! Through your kids' purchases of the Guatemala items over the past year and a half, we were able to send $3100 which they can use to renovate their "kitchen" in which they prepare a snack/lunch for their 700+ students every day. Their current space is very very small. They will be able to expand it quite a bit. Southminster Presbyterian Church of Waukesha was also able to raise $2000 to send as well. Construction is beginning right away!
Friends of our partnership will be purchasing additional craft items from the market in Chichicastenango for our future fundraising. We are excited for them to bring back some new things as well as old favorites! Look for the opportunity to continue to support this wonderful partnership later this spring.
Many of our students have made a small drawing/project to send to students at Flavio Rodas. Appropriately, they have centered around the theme of winter fun!
Two of these Guatemalan travelers are very special to the Rose Glen family. They are Bud and Sara Hudson. Sara is a former Rose Glen teacher, and Bud is a former Carroll College chemistry professor. They are responsible for starting our partnership 31 years ago in 1988. They believe this will be their last visit to Guatemala to visit the dear friends they have made there over the years. Sara will be celebrating her 80th birthday while they are there.
Lost and Found
Please take a look at the below items and let us know if you recognize any of them. As many of you are aware, we tend to accumulate A LOT of lost items throughout the year. Each week we will send a picture of lost items for you to claim. If they are not claimed then we will ensure that they go to a donation center in our area. What is most helpful is if you label your child's clothing and school items. We can then easily identify the item and make sure that the lost item is found and hopefully also save you a trip to have to buy another one. Please label items such as jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, and lunchboxes. As winter approaches please make sure that you label boots, snow pants, hats, and mittens. Black snow pants seem to be a favorite here at Rose Glen and so labeling them will ensure that everyone has their own black snow pants and that if a pair gets lost then we can ensure it gets to the right child. Thank you for your help with this and looking forward to year with minimal lost items :) Please email Cathe Sweet at csweet@waukesha.k12.wi.us if you recognize any of the items.
You are welcome to come to school and look through the Lost and Found for your child's belongings, so you don't have to rely exclusively on our pictures.
Please contact us asap because all items will be donated on Friday, April 5th, 2019.
