Inquiry Illuminated
In Inquiry Illuminated, Anne Goudvis, Stephanie Harvey, and classroom teacher Brad Buhrow shine a light on researcher's workshop-an approach whose true north emerges from kids' curiosity. Adapting structures you already know from reader's and writer's workshop, they share a predictable, proven, and-most importantly-authentic approach

What the Best That Could Happen

We Got This.
While challenging the teacher as hero trope, We Got This shows how authentically listening to kids is the closest thing to a superpower that we have. What we hear can spark action that allows us to make powerful moves toward equity by broadening access to learning for all children. What is ISTE?
Colleagues from throughout HSE Schools will be attending the ISTE conference this summer in Philadelphia. Some are even presenting! ISTE is the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), which is a passionate community of global educators who believe in the power of technology to transform teaching and learning, accelerate innovation and solve tough problems in education. ISTE inspires the creation of solutions and connections that improve opportunities for all learners by delivering: practical guidance, evidence-based professional learning, virtual networks, thought-provoking events and the ISTE Standards. Be sure to connect with your colleagues who attend, check out the website, and consider joining in next summer!
What is TCRWP?
Colleagues from throughout HSE schools will be attending Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University in NYC this summer. There are two five-day institutes, one for reading and one for writing, led by founding member Lucy Calkins. They are designed for educators who are committed to turning classrooms into richly literate reading and writing workshops. During the institute, small and large group sections will tackle the following topics and much more: the central role of curriculum development and planning in the teaching of reading and writing, units of study in reading and writing workshop, strategy instruction, the importance of assessment-based instruction, the role of the read-aloud book, methods of holding our students accountable for doing their best work, helping students grow ideas about literature, and classroom structures that support inquiry and collaboration. Be sure to connect with your colleagues who attend, check out the website, and consider joining in next summer!
