Hello, from Mrs.B!
classroom updates & news
Sea World Trip

ELA
This last week we have been working on context clues. This week we will be starting a new novel study: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by AVI. This book was not on the original book list for this year, but to accustom students to the rigor and text complexity of the FSA I feel this book is important. If you would like to purchase your child their own personal copy of the book it can be found on Amazon.com for $6.99. I do have classroom copies for all students, so please don't worry if you are unable to purchase the book.
We will be reading and analyzing a chapter a day for the next 24 school days.
We will also be testing, this week, the students ability to apply POV.
Vocabulary: due this week is the vocab bingo/vocab test. Last week I also assigned the students a vocab project (in class only), due Feb. 4th as well.
Social Studies
Although it is a short week we still need to squeeze in a lesson from Chapter 5. This week we will be working though lesson 2. On Thursday the students will take their weekly quiz for the lesson. Next week we will taking our test on Lessons 1 & 2.
Parents please make sure your students are reading and completing their SS homework each night. There are several students who come in daily without their homework completed. During our social studies block we simply review and enrich the students nightly reading. If your student doesn't complete the assigned reading ( which is 3-5 paragraphs nightly) they will be lost the following day. Please check edmodo for current homework assignments.
