The Weekly Hawk
Updates and School News for the week of December 5th, 2022
OH 180 was a SMASHING success!!!! Thank you OH PTO and parents!!!!
Way to go Hawk Families! We raised $92,740 so far, which is over our annual goal, $90,000! THANK YOU families for your contributions and support of the PTO! Your generous donations directly benefit and enrich your child's educational experience here at Orchard Hills. It involves families like you that make Orchard Hills great! Thank you again! The winners that held the highest participation of OH180 membership for the popsicle party are Mrs. Pieplow's 5th grade class and Ms. Roger's first-grade class. Congratulations!
This will help fund so many enrichment programs on campus and campus upgrades!!!
Parking Lot Reminders:
*Safety of students and drivers is of the utmost concern with these reminders. With the volume of cars in our parking lot each day (1400 students), we understand there are many challenges.
*There is no parking in the red fire lane at any time. Irvine PD will be monitoring.
*Entering campus through the exit lane is not allowed at any time and is dangerous.
*Dropping off students or picking them up on Portola is not allowed.
*Do not back up when near the crosswalk.
*Students are only allowed to be dropped off alongside a curb, otherwise parents must park and walk them up. Students that are dropped in the parking lot maybe assigned a lunch detention to help support safe practices.
Thank you for helping us improve safety in our parking lot.

Hour of Code this week!
Hour of Code
Computers are everywhere, changing every industry on the planet. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works.
That’s why our entire district is joining in on the largest learning event in history: The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Education Week (December 5-9). Our Hour of Code is making a statement that Tustin Unified is ready to continue paving the way for 21st-century learning and skills.

Important Reminder from our Health Office
A reminder from the school nurse and health office: As a friendly reminder, students are not permitted to carry or take medications on campus unless verified by their medical provider and the school nurse.
Medications can be provided to the health office for administration by school staff with a medication authorization form. The form must be completed by the medical provider and then signed by the parent. The medication must be in the original packaging and the dose must match the information on the form provided by the medical provider. Medications and medication forms can be provided to the health office Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 am – 2:00 pm to ensure the appropriate staff receives and reviews them. Please do not drop off medications or medication forms outside of these hours.
If your student is currently carrying medications without completing the above steps, please refrain from sending it to school with them until the TUSD medication protocols are completed by the office to ensure the safety of your student and other students on campus.
