Distance Learning at Scituate High School
As you know, Governor Raimondo declared that all Rhode Island schools will be closed from March 23 through April 3rd. Superintendent Blanchette and a team of educators submitted a Distance Learning Plan to RIDE and it was fully approved on March 19th!
Scituate High School students will be expected to utilize Google Suite for Education from home to complete tasks, turn in attendance forms, and learn from the digital lessons that all high school teachers will be providing.
It is very clear from the Governor and the Commissioner of Education that the next two weeks is not school vacation. The Distance Learning Days will count as school weeks and Scituate students are fully expected to participate in their learning. In the meantime, the Governor, the Department of Health, and the President have made it very clear that everyone should avoid groups larger than ten and stay home.
This Distance Learning platform is new to ALL of us and we understand that it will take some time to adjust and change direction as we venture into these uncharted waters. We know that the Scituate Spartans will put our best foot forward and we will figure this out together.
As of now, all school events and events held at the high school are canceled through April 3rd.
Thank you for your support and partnership!

Clarification for Students
Answer:
No- Students will be expected to complete attendance forms for each class. (monday, periods 1-6) but will not be expected to follow the time schedule. Students will be given materials, assignments, instructional videos and tutorials for all six of their classes each day. An example of this is that students would not be responsible for their period 7 class on Monday because it does not meet on that day.
Question: How do I hand in attendance?
Answer:
Each day all six of your teachers on your daily schedule will upload a google form for attendance. All students must submit via Google Classroom each day by 12:00 PM. Although all attendance is import, whatever class you have first period is the most important as this is the "daily attendance" Scituate uploads to the department of education.
Question: What about end of year events?
Answer:
Right now, we are focusing on the next two weeks through April 3rd. At that time, we will have more information for the Governor and Dept. of Education.
Question: What is happening with the end of quarter three on March 27th?
Answer:
Our Distance learning team for Scituate School Department will meet at the end of the week and will make decisions around the quarter and report cards. Quarter three will not be closed on Friday

Survey Works - 8 More Days Left... Please take the survey!
Currently our rates are below:

Family: 7%
Each year, the RI Department of Education asks families to complete an anonymous survey. The data from this survey will be reported on our yearly school accountability rating. This year, we hope to get as close to 100% as possible! Let's show the state that the Scituate Spartans are the best!
The SurveyWorks Stakeholder Survey Initiative is an effort to gather information that will help improve the quality of schools across Rhode Island. The surveys capture and assess information that helps educators understand and act upon what students, teachers, support professionals, administrators, and parents say about the climate, culture, and learning environments in their schools. The survey window will close on March 31, 2020
