Pink Eye Alert

There has been an increase in the number of reported cases of pinkeye and several children have been sent home recently with the infection. Pink eye is a highly contagious communicable disease. Symptoms to look for are tearing/watering, redness of eyes, itching, and drainage or crusted eyelids. Please check your child each morning before sending them to school. If you suspect pinkeye, a prescription antibiotic is necessary, and students are not allowed to return to school until they are on the antibiotic for at least 24 hours. A doctor’s note is recommended upon returning to school. Good hand washing technique and having the infected person use a separate towel will help prevent the spread of infection at home and school. Please review proper hand washing technique with your child.

Your child can help support the Lake County Library and the LINCOLN Library! Students who participate can win ribbons, trophies and gift cards. Participate in the 2016 Read-a-Thon. The Read-a-Thon is from January 11-Febrary 21. All envelopes must be returned to Mrs. Meekma at Lincoln no later than March 11. For more information, contact Mrs. Meekma at

Please Slow Down

Parents, please slow down when you are driving through our parking lot. Many cars go past the front and around the side of the school as if it were a street. We are all in a hurry in the mornings and after school, but please keep in mind that this is a school parking lot and there are children and adults getting in and out of cars. Thank you.

Kindergarten Parent Meeting

Wednesday, March 9th, 6pm

Lincoln Elementary School Cafeteria

There will be an informational Kindergarten parent meeting for all families who have an incoming Lincoln Elementary School kindergarten student attending for the 2016-2017 academic year. The meeting will be on March 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the Lincoln Elementary School cafeteria. Please park in the rear parking lot and enter through Door F.
We strongly encourage all new incoming kindergarten parents/guardians to attend. If you are unable to attend, please send someone in your place to obtain all the important information that will be presented. Appointment times to register incoming Kindergarten students on April 7 and 8 will also be scheduled during this meeting.

Testing Date Windows

Please keep the following testing windows, which are established by the Indiana Dept. of Education, in mind. Specific dates for your child's grade level or class will be sent home as we become closer to the testing date. Pre-Approved absence requests will not be approved during these windows of time.

ISTEP Part 1 - Grades 3, 4, 5 - February 29-March 11

IREAD-3 - Grade 3 - March 14-18

ISTEP Part 2 - Grades 3, 4, 5 - April 18-May 6

Please be sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather and that all cold weather gear is labeled with your child's first and last name. If something becomes lost, we would rather return it to the owner than put it in Lost and Found. Thank you!
