Term 4 Week 6 - 25th November 2022

Tena Koutou, Talofa, Namaste, Hello and Greetings

As we are getting closer to the end of the year, I thought a quick round up of events over the next couple of weeks might be helpful for everyone.

Our last day for the year is Thursday 15 December, and we will be finishing at 12:00pm.

Wednesday 30th November - Mitre 10 Tough Kids event (senior students) - notes have gone home with the students who are attending this event.

Friday 2nd December - School Assembly (2:30pm start) - This assembly will be our last normal school assembly in the school hall for 2022. We will have our usual certificates during this time and we will celebrate our Year 6 students.

Monday 5th - Friday 9th - Schoolwide Swimming - we are swimming every day this week. Classes will travel to and from the pool on a bus with their class. Swimming times:

Kauri - 9:30am - 10am

Totara - 10am - 10:30am

Puriri - 10:30am - 11:00am

Rimu - 11:00am - 11:45am

Rata - 11:45am - 12:30pm

Please make sure your child has their togs and towel each day. It is also helpful to name their uniform so if we have a red t-shirts muddled up we can return them to the correct student. A note will go home with each child with more information next week.

Tuesday 13th December - Final Assembly and Farewell of Year 6 students (6:30pm start) - At this assembly the junior students and senior students will perform a song. Book awards will be given out across the year groups and then we will farewell our Year 6 students as they finish their time at East Gore before moving on to Intermediate.

School Resources - could you please have a look at home for any school resources (library books, school journals, little reading books etc along with any sports uniforms) and return them to school as soon as possible. We have to stocktake our resources each year and will be starting that in the next couple of weeks.

Other News

Last week we farewelled one of our support staff - Sara. She was a great asset to our school supporting a number of students across the classes. We wish Sara all the best in her new position.

This week we also received a resignation from Tory Buchanan. Tory hasn't been able to teach at East Gore this year after a concussion. She has been working on her recovery in 2022 and has decided that she needs to have a change of pace in regards to teaching and her recovery. We wish her all the best with her recovery and her next step with teaching.

We are currently advertising for a new teacher and will announce an appointment in the coming weeks.

Kia pai tō rā whakatā (have a great weekend).

Wendy Kitto
