News and Notes for Parents at Plymouth North
One Month Left!
That being said, there have been some impressive changes in the last few days that will impact everything in those next 30 days, and the road over those days will take us through some amazing milestones and celebrations.
We're excited to put 2020-2021 behind us, but we're also just as excited to keep our students engaged, close gaps in student learning, celebrate some amazing achievements and send off an outstanding group of young men and women off to bright futures!
Things are looking up for Eagle Nation!
Enthusiastically,
Pete Parcellin,
Principal

2. COVID, Mask and Distancing Protocols
- Students can be unmasked at any distance when outside. This includes sports, physical education and outside learning experiences.
- Adults can be unmasked at 6ft distancing when outside.
- Cleaning of high touch surfaces can be reduced to once per day except in areas where students are unmasked.
- Students can resume sharing items in classes.
We have implemented these changes at PNHS during the school day as well as at our school events. We are still waiting on graduation guidance.
All other COVID-19 mitigation policies (one-way hallways, one-way stairwells, tiered passing and dismissal, etc...) will continue through to the end of the school year.
We have been very fortunate with the recent turn in COVID-19 cases: we've had only 1 positive case in the building over the last two and a half weeks.
3. Senior Expectations and Events
Those seniors who have not yet shown they will meet all graduation requirements will be informed this week that they will be required to attend school in-person during the week of May 24-28th. Once they have met all graduation requirements, they can transition to "learn from home".
SeniorFest: Tickets are no longer on sale for SeniorFest. Seniors should wear their T-Shirts as their admission, and be prepared to have fun and sign yearbooks! The event is 10am to 1pm on May 28th.
Senior Gala & Class Night: This is a Formal/Semi-Formal event. A reception with food trucks, DJ, games and events will be held for Seniors only from 5-6:30. Seniors will then be welcomed via red carpet to the turf to participate in our typical Class Day program. Underclassmen, Parents and Families are welcome to watch the event in the stadium stands. It will also be broadcast live on EdTV and Youtube.
The following events are closed to outside guests and are for Seniors ONLY:
- Graduation Practices (10am on 6/1 and 8am on 6/3)
- SeniorFest on 5/28 (10am-1pm)
- Reception at the Senior Gala Formal/SemiFormal Event on 6/1(5-6:30, program to follow)
The following events are open to parents and spectators:
- Thursday Night Lights (8:30pm on 5/27)
- Senior Gala/Class Night Awards (spectators in stadium stands only) at 6:30 on 6/1
- Convocation (TICKETED SPECTATORS ONLY) on 6/3
- Graduation (TICKETED SPECTATORS ONLY- See Below) on 6/5
Graduation as of today is still limited to 4 tickets per graduate (2 lanyards for turf seating for only 2 people and 2 tickets for stadium seating). There are no additional tickets unless DESE lifts attendance requirements. Any handicapped parking requests for graduation should be given to Kim Wolcott, our Senior Class advisor by Friday, May 28th. You can also submit them by the google form on the Senior Class Google Classroom.
Masks are currently NOT required if distancing can be maintained by spectators. Graduation guidance has yet to be clarified, but we hope to get more information soon.
4. MCAS- Grade 9 and 10
Please encourage your child to be in school on their testing dates to avoid the need to pull them from classes for make up testing.
- Grade 9 STE: 1st & 2nd Period on June 7th and 8th
- Grade 10 ELA: 1st & 2nd Period on June 7th and 8th
- Grade 10 MATH; 1st & 2nd Period on June 9th and 10th
Juniors will be able to remain in some classes on these days, others will follow an alternate assignment from their teachers.
Juniors are not required to take MCAS this year, but can opt to take the test in Fall, 2021 to qualify for the John and Abigail Adams scholarship. Information about how to opt-in to the Fall test will come out at the start of next school year.
5. Freshman Class Mental Health Awareness Month Bracelet Sale
At PNHS, our Freshman class is helping to break the stigma around Mental Health Awareness and is hoping to spread the word to our school community by selling green awareness bracelets to raise funds for local causes that support Mental Health services.
Bracelets can be purchased from any Freshman Council Member, Ms. Jalbert or Mr. Cardoso.
Bracelets are $1 and all proceeds go towards the Plymouth Youth Development Collaborative.
6. PNN Live Show THIS Friday!

7. Spring Job Fair for Students
Have a child looking for a great summer job!

8. Senior Engineering Expo
Amazing student ingenuity and creativity were on display like Ryan Sears' engineered fishing lure mold that turns plastic waste found in ponds to snazzy new fishing lures, Caitlin Hales' futuristic solar powered drone, and Kolbe Shannon's ingenious medication dispensing machine that was inspired by real life issues!
Every single project was thoughtful and well crafted! Congratulations to ALL our Engineering Seniors, their teacher Mr. Nielsen, Department Head Ms. Drew and Tech Director Ms. Sylvia for an amazing achievement!
9. French and Spanish National Honor Society Induction
On Tuesday, May 18th the Foreign Language Honor Society, composed of the French National Honor Society & the Spanish National Honor Society had their informal formal induction. Second year members received their respective honor society pins and first year members received their certificates from the National Associations that act as proof of membership. All members signed the FLHS roster as a sign of commitment to their chosen language of study and their academic studies. Graduating members of the French National Honor Society will wear their bleu, blanc, and rouge cords while graduating members of the Spanish National Honor Society will be wearing their rojo and dorado cords at Graduation. Félicitations & Félicidades to all FLHS members, especially our graduating seniors!
10. Biomedical Sciences Recognition
Great speeches were given by Luke Camarao and Kailey Reardon about how they have grown through their time in the program and all the seniors were celebrated with a speech and video crafted by Ms. Raymond and Ms. Rozak on the impact they have had in their time at PNHS.
11. SkillsUSA Victory

12. Spring Sports Update
Not only do we have our tennis, track, baseball, softball and lacrosse teams competing hard... our wrestling team has adjusted from their winter season to roll out the mats this spring.
We are ELATED to see our athletes play... and we can't wait to see them in the Patriot League tournament in June and get a chance to play in the first state tournament held this school year!
