Review, Preview, and Problems: Sept. 14-18
Progress (OPE)
- Met with School Psychologist to review Fountas & Pinnell BAS and LLI purposes and how they relate to interventions.
- Met with grade-levels to review Word Walls, HF Word List, running record progress, spelling inventories, and RIT Bands.
- Met with Assistant Principal to discuss new Fountas & Pinnell kits and John Collins Writing materials.
- Trained third grade on the Fountas & Pinnell kits
- Stocked and labeled Fountas & Pinnell kits.
- Established a PD plan involving John Collins Journals.
- Analyzed Fall MAP scores to compare Spring 14-15 lower quartiles with Fall 15-16 lower quartiles.
- Worked on School Board Presentation.
(Out sick Monday)
Plan (FOE)
- Prepare John Collins Journal Writing PD.
- Attend Coaches' PLC on Monday at BRE.
- Observe RIT band classes.
- Conduct John Collins Journal Trainings on Tuesday (OIS) and Wednesday (FOE).
- Analyze Fall MAP scores to compare Spring 14-15 lower quartiles with Fall 15-16 lower quartiles.
- Work with fifth grade on Running Records and Spelling Inventories.
- Work with SpecEd teacher on Fountas & Pinnell BAS.
- Work on my GBE. (Need to finish by 9/25 because the next week is not at home-base.
- Follow-up on my recertification requirements.
- Check in with teachers on running records and spelling inventory progress.
Problems
- I need LLI training (not just observe a lesson).
- Demands on teachers impacts their attitudes and willingness to hear from me.
- Spelling inventory isn't (for the majority) used for guiding instruction; rather, it is a means to an end as far as district requirements. How many of the upper elementary running records are viewed as that?
