Congratulations to Ysilia, Ines, Mercedes, Blair, Kathy, Sandra, Reianna and Isabel for having ALL 7 COMPONENTS! You get an A+
What have you all wanted?
I'm hoping this will help....beginning in January we will COMPLETELY CHANGE the master schedule at Park Crest. We're hoping with the new schedule you will have larger blocks of time to teach and one day a week you will have back to back library and specials. A full 1 hour and 40 minutes to work on planning!! You'll drop your students off at specials or library and our amazing team will get them moved where they need to go and specials teachers will go back to doing like they did last year - giving restroom breaks!
Here are things to think about:
1. PreK - unfortunately since you all don't go to library right now we couldn't make that work for you.
2. The instructional minutes are listed but you have full power to change math, reading, science times around in the schedule. We will be working to iron out the fine details once everyone has given the new schedule a chance. We also need to iron out the details of the balanced literacy block in January...when is what happening during the 120 minutes.
3. Bilingual and Kinder teachers - you are going to miss one day of intervention. The students who see Mrs. Maqsood and Ms. Loza STILL need to go to them. Those students can go to library during open check out times on Monday or Wednesday mornings.
4. We need to start letting students and parents know NOW about the changes.
5. Personally, I would change my google codes from what you are using now to something new and then monitor the old codes for awhile to get everyone changed over.
All of that being said, please look over the schedule and provide me with any feedback of things you see that won't work... I'm sure I've missed something.
December 18th
We are still awaiting guidelines from the district about holiday parties. As soon as I know something I will let you know. Right now please just tell parents we are waiting on guidance from the district and we'll let them know as soon as we do.
Notes from Esther....
* Monthly 1069 documentation is due TODAY, Dec.4th.
- Be sure to update your Progress Monitoring information on your 1069s.
* I- station test should be taken at the beginning of each month, all Tier 2 & Tier 3 students must complete the Reading ISIP test at the beginning of each month, for Progress Monitoring.
If your students have not taken their I-station test for December please have them do so ASAP.
Notes from Selena....
Here is a helpful decodable reader/small group protocol sheet Cara Warren created that breaks down the 15-20 minute small group lesson into chunks:
