A Message from our Principal...
PROUD TO BE A BIRMINGHAM BEAR!!!!!
We are thrilled to welcome our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Tracy Halligan!! Before joining the Birmingham family, she served as a WISD Science and P.E. Learning Specialist. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge, positive energy and love for kids!! I can’t wait for you all to get to know her!!! You will love, Mrs. Halligan!
We need your help!
The majority of our dismissal is in our carpool each day. Please help us by talking with your child about waiting for a teacher to help them across the crosswalk. The crosswalk must be opened by the crossing guard before students walk across. Lately, we have had several scary situations with this area of dismissal (students attempting to cross while cars are moving).
We ask that while in the car, parents be alert and watching for direction from the crossing guard and other teachers directing traffic. We also ask that you help us make our carpool lanes a no cellphone zone.
Thank you for helping us keep our Bears safe as they travel home each day!!! Bear Hugs!
I’ve given you a large number of dates and events listed below. The last month of school is quickly approaching and I want to ensure everyone is aware of celebration days and times. We don’t want you to miss a thing!!
I’m just so PROUD of the growth our students have made this year!! If you know me well, you know I’ll be shedding tears of joy as we celebrate the accomplishments of each Bear on May 23rd!!! #LetTheBellsRing

Hello Birmingham Bears!
What a fabulous Day of Gratitude we had this past Wednesday! Our staff and students have so many wonderful things to be grateful for and did a great job sharing this week!
Gratitude is not an innate trait. It is something that must be nurtured and taught; both at home and at school. As a parent, I love reading great articles to help me enhance my own parenting skills, because as you all know, parenting is often our hardest job!
Here is a link to a short and sweet article I came across regarding Gratitude. I hope you enjoy!

Hi Bears!
I wanted to provide information regarding a common condition within the school setting. It’s lice…there I said it! Flu has passed, and now it’s lice season. I want to encourage you to check your child’s hair daily for nits and lice bugs. This can be a quick step in the morning when your child is getting ready for school. Read the lice fact sheet attached in the link below. I am here as a resource, please reach out to me if you have any questions.
What is it and how did my child get it?

Stay Healthy,

From the Library…
This week we started an author study on Laura Numeroff. She is best known for her "If You Give..." series. All grades are learning more about her and doing a book analysis on a few of her books. Be sure to ask your student some facts about Laura Numeroff. They seem to be soaking it up!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Mrs. April

Our next general PTA meeting will be this tonight, April 19th, before the 2nd grade program. We will be voting on the nominees for next years executive board and go over the PTA's budget.
Teacher appreciation week is almost upon us! April 30-May 4 is a spectacular week to treat our teachers as the stars they are. There are two sign ups to help with items and to sign up as a volunteer.
