Hubbard Elementary School
Family Newsletter - April 2022
Happy Friday!
Hubbard Families,
We are preparing for assessments, after school events, and lots of fun at the end of the year! Below, please see the "Important Dates" section to prepare for all of the great opportunities for students and families!
We have assessments coming up for all students. If you have questions about your child's assessment dates, please reach out to the teacher(s). Here are district and state level assessments we are preparing for:
- IRI - Idaho Reading Indicator is for all students in Idaho that are kindergarten - 3rd grade. This assessment will happen early May.
- ISIP - Istation Indicator of Progress is for kindergarten - 5th grade students and is an early reading screener and diagnostic. This assessment is taken monthly (September-May) as a progress report of growth in reading.
- ISAT - ISAT Comprehensive Assessment System is the state assessment for 3rd-8th and 10th grade students in reading/writing and math. Our 3rd grade students will be taking this during the end of April and early May.
- IReady - iReady Math Diagnostic is an adaptive math assessment that our kindergarten - 3rd grade students take three times a year. The next diagnostic will happen during the first few weeks of May.
Our teachers and staff work hard to prepare students for assessments while also spacing assessments out so that it's not all during the same day or week. If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher as sleep, breakfast, and positive support is always a great way to helps students to prepare for the assessments!
Parents, if you would like to submit a teacher consideration for your child next year, please fill out this form. Entries are accepted until Friday, April 28
Warmest wishes to all,
Justine Burgess
Principal

Cultivating Readers
At Hubbard, we are cultivating readers. Our school takes part in a state funded improvement project to train our teachers to make their reading instruction even better. Over the next few newsletters, we'll share information about the essential parts of the Science of Reading and how you can support your reader at home.
We will dig into each part of reading, explain what it means, and offer a video link modeling how you can support your child at home. We will also offer resources for those of you who would like to take a deep dive into the topic. Here is a link to Reading 101: A Guide for Parents.
We are happy to answer any questions you have in regards to reading. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
