PONY NEWS OCTOBER 24th
“Communication builds trust. Trust generates commitment. Commitment fosters teamwork. Teamwork delivers results.”
HELLO PONIES- A LITTLE TO SHARE ABOUT MS. SATTERLA
Hi!! My name is Emily Satterla and I am loving my first year of teaching! I grew up in Flower Mound and graduated from Flower Mound High School in 2012. I always knew that I wanted to be a teacher, so I chose to spend the next four years in the TechTeach program at Texas Tech University. I loved everything about West Texas and enjoyed attending the football games with family and friends. After graduation, I decided to move back to the Dallas area. Family is really important to me and together we love to travel and explore new places.
My younger brother, John, is still at Tech pursuing an engineering degree. I have a sweet dog named Kasey who is 12 years old. I have fallen in love with Lewisville Elementary, and I am so thankful for such a supportive staff and admin. team that have welcomed me in! Go Ponies!

- Lewisville will use a 90 min. PLC schedule every Thursday. One of the 45 min. will be Specials, and the other will be before or after Specials.

On Oct. 27th, the focus will continue to be:
3rd - 5th grade: Explore and plan for Achieve 3000
K - 2nd grade: Continue revising and creating your small groups using your writing and reading data.
Your voice counts. :-)
We still want to know how to better support you during PLCs. Don't forget to complete the survey.
A Message from Mrs. Simpson: RTI Meeting Expectations
- Has already contacted the parent to express concern(s) prior to the meeting.
- Has already uploaded the student’s FOG information for the correct Tier https://sites.google.com/a/staff.lisd.net/lisd-rti-reference-guide/the-rti-process-1/teacher
- Brings work samples to the meeting so that the RTI committee can view and discuss the student's work. If this is a RTI meeting to recommend a student for dyslexia testing, please bring at least 2 writing samples.
- Brings a copy of the student's *current grades.
- Brings a *current DRA if the student is on Tier 3 for Reading.
- Brings a *current running record.
*Current in this case is within the 2 weeks prior to the RTI meeting.
The meetings are ONLY meant to last for 20 minutes.
If for some reason you are having problems with understanding how to complete a FOG, I have attached a helpful link that provides step-by-step guidance on how to complete it. Furthermore, we are more than glad to meet with you to assist with this.

How to Develop Positive Classroom Management.
Did you know that decreasing behavior referrals is one of the goals on which Mr. Plunkett asked me to focus? This is one of our Campus Improvement Plan goals. We will continue learning and working together to achieve this goal.
Don't forget to read the article and join the twitter chat at #Positiveclassroom@theponyway. Share how the information in this article can help your students. Support your thinking by watching the video of Functions of Behavior shared by Angela Hinkelman.
- You may also reflect with a friend or your team, and post one tweet per group.
Awards Assemblies
Friday, October 28th
2nd and 3rd Grades - 9:00 am
4th and 5th Grades - 2:00 pm
Classroom teachers will call the students' names for the awards, and administrators will hand the awards to the students.
2nd grade and 4th grade will trade specials times for Award Assembly Days:
2nd Grade Specials will be 10:45-11:30 AM (instead of 8:55-9:40). Teachers must pick up their students at exactly 11:30, and take them directly to the cafeteria in order to not delay their lunch schedule for the day.
4th Grade Specials will be 8:55-9:40 AM (instead of 10:45-11:30).
