June 2023 Newsletter
Greetings to all our wonderful families,
As I sit in my office, reflecting on the content for our June family newsletter, a wave of mixed emotions washes over me. On one hand, I am filled with joy as we approach the end of this incredibly successful year. On the other hand, a tinge of sadness lingers, knowing that we will be separated from our beloved students over the upcoming summer months. I can only imagine the anticipation and excitement our students and families have for a fun-filled and enjoyable summer ahead!
By now, many of you may already be aware of the news, but I wanted to take a moment to officially share that both Mrs. Ernst and I will be bidding farewell at the end of this school year. Mrs. Ernst will be taking on the role of Vice-Principal at Tisdale Middle & Secondary School, while I will be embarking on a new journey as the Coordinator of Integrated Services with NESD in Melfort. The connections we have formed with your families over the past 12 years have been incredibly meaningful to us, and we will sincerely miss them. However, even though I will no longer be serving as the principal, I want to assure you that I am committed to supporting your children, no matter the distance.
I would also like to take this opportunity to celebrate the remarkable progress our students have made in their reading skills. Our dedicated efforts to help them reach higher levels of literacy have yielded impressive results. We eagerly look forward to continuing our focus on reading instruction and striving for even better outcomes in the coming year.
In recent months, we have noticed a decline in overall attendance, with some students experiencing illness or grappling with overwhelming emotions that make it difficult for them to attend school. We genuinely want to work hand in hand with you, our valued families, to provide the necessary support for our students to ensure their consistent attendance. If your child is feeling unwell for extended periods, we encourage you to consult with your family doctor. Our goal is to support our students and families while ensuring they receive the positive education they deserve.
Lastly, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the incredible parent involvement we have witnessed throughout the year. Research consistently shows that when families actively participate in their child's education, the child excels academically. I wholeheartedly encourage all parents to become involved in your child's educational journey by participating in school activities, staying informed about educational changes, asking questions of both your child and the school, and engaging in reading and math activities together.
As the transition period approaches, I am eagerly looking forward to welcoming our new grade 3 students from Central Park, along with their parents, to our Wagner School community family. We have planned a brief tour where we will share the unique aspects that make Wagner special. I can't wait to see the countless smiling faces and witness the excitement of students as they become part of our wonderful community.
I wish each and every one of you a truly enjoyable June! I eagerly anticipate seeing all of you at the various events taking place throughout the month.

Track Club
The after-school Track and Field club have been meeting every Tuesday & Thursday for training. The students have enjoyed the chance to practice their skills in the sun after such a long, cold winter! Most of our students have registered for the division wide Solestice track and field competition in Melfort on June 7th. It will be a great opportunity for our students to compete against students from across our division! We look forward to cheering on our student athletes and hope that some of them move on to the provincial event in Saskatoon!
