Kindergarten Newsletter ACES
Week Of February 11th
Highlights from last week....
Thank you to all of you that participated in our 100th day bags. The children loved trying to figure out what was inside!
In ELA, we focused on the seasons of the year. We learned lots of vocabulary and season words. We learned about the letters B and L and the sight words little and is. It was very busy week of learning.
In Math, we continued our unit on number bonds. I will attach a video to help you understand the math concept. We LOVE number bonds!!!
A peek at our learning this week....
This week our class will be reading stories about different kinds of weather. Your child will be predicting the weather and learning how to describe it.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we will be practicing.
Word Workout
- Vocabulary: predict, temperature Look outside with your child and try to predict what the weather will be like later in the day. Try to predict the temperature for tomorrow.
- My Words to Know
High-Frequency Words: she, was Write the words she and was on paper. Then have your child trace each word. Write short sentences that include each word.
Category Words: weather words Make a 7-column table and write the days of the week at the top of each column. Every morning, look outside and have your child write a word under each day to describe the weather.
Phonics: initial k, final ck Help your child find objects that begin with the letter k or end in ck. Make a list of the words.
In Math, we will be working on number bonds. This is a concept that we use to break numbers apart and put them together.
Valentine's Day Party- Thursday, February 14th
A note from Ms. Berube
Our Valentine's Day celebration will be coming up on Thursday. I sent a list of children's names home if your child would like to address their valentines to their friends. If not, just have your child sign their name. Completely up to you!
I also just wanted to mention many students have been cold and wanting to wear their jackets in class. If you could send them with a sweatshirt, that would be helpful so they can be more comfortable.
Thank you for all that you do! Have a great week!
A note from Mrs. Maillet
Our 100th day celebration was a success. I can't believe we have been in school for 100 days, time is flying by in kindergarten! Please see the video below. We had a great day!
A big shout out to Maddie and Addison for donating wipes and markers, we REALLY appreciate it!
Thank you for your support.
A note from Mrs. Webb
We had such a great time celebrating our 100th day of school! We built with 100 legos, stacked 100 cups, licked a lollipop 100 times, and made portraits of what we might looked like when we are 100 years old! I added those cute pictures to the bottom of our newsletter! That’s just a few of the fun things we did!
We will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Thursday with a snack and an exchange of our cards in the afternoon. If your child would like to address their Valentine to their friends that will be fine! If he/she would prefer to not address them, that’s great too! It’s your choice!
Book orders were placed on Friday. They will be in soon.
Next week is February break. We will see each other again on Monday, February 25th.
Enjoy your week!
A note from Mrs. Marcoux
We will have our Valentine's Day celebration on Thursday. Instead of addressing the valentine's to each individual child, you can have your child just sign their valentine's if you'd prefer, it's up to you. The decorated boxes are adorable.
We could really use black Expo markers and glue sticks. They are both things we use on a regular basis.
Thank you again for all you do!
A note from Mrs. Goldthwaite
It was great seeing so many of you at the PTO cake dance. I hope you all enjoyed your yummy treats.
I sent in the book order should be in soon.
We will have our valentine's day card exchange on Thursday. When you have your boxes done send it in. The ones we have gotten are great! It would be nice for the students to address their valentines to their friends. However if you just want to sign them that will be okay too.
Our class wish list is more clorox wipes , kleenex and black dry erase markers.
I sure hope over vacation you find time to read and go over sight words and writing numbers. Most important find time to just listen.
Thank you for all your support.
