Act 4 Scene 5 Summary
The nurse enters Juliet's room to find her dead. Following her, Lady Capulet, Lord Capulet, Paris, and Friar Lawrence enter Juliet's room; they all find her dead. Each expresses their sorrows and shock of Juliet's death. Friar Lawrence (although knowing Juliet is not really dead), gives everyone closure. Friar says that everyone should be happy for Juliet has risen to the highest social class, heaven; furthermore, she was happy and left off on a good hand with her parents. Peter and the musicians argue over playing a song.
KEY CHARACTERS
Song Explanation
Act 4 Scene 5 is all based upon Juliet passing away, and all the sorrow that haunts her friends and family. A main part of this scene, however, is Friar Lawrence telling everyone that Juliet has passed away, but that Juliet is in a better place and has left the world on a good note. This song touches upon that. This song talks about someone passing away, and how that person is now in a better place. This song also talks about how all the memories would be kept, held dearly, and treasured.
