Tsunamis are dangerous waves that can destroy cities.Tsunamis are created when a landslide or an earthquake acurs underwater.80% of tsunamis are created in the Pacific ocean's "Ring of fire".The World Bank estimates that the rebuilding of all of the tsunami affected places in Japan would take fifty years and cost $230 billion dollars.

History of Tsunamis

Greek historian Thucydides [460 395bc] in his history of the Peloponnesian war was a person who help create tsunamis by underwater earthquakes. The earthquake that caused the 2011 Japan tsunami is the world’s fifth-largest earthquake since 1900. It has been 1,200 years since an earthquake of this size struck the plate boundary of Japan
