Community Announcements
Hello Parents/Guardians,
Thank you for joining us for Parent/Teacher Conferences form 4:30-8pm on Thursday, Sept. 30 and from 9am-12:30pm on Friday, Oct. 1! we are happy that you had an opportunity to speak with your student's teachers.
Please remember that Fall Break begins Monday, Oct. 11th! Also, Monday, Oct. 18th is a district asynchronous day and students will work from home.
The protocols for dealing with the COVID-19 virus has changed. As of Monday, August 16 all staff, students and visitors to OKCPS buildings will be required to wear face masks. Please see the details below in the statement from Superintendent McDaniel:
Also, please help us by ensuring your student is in the proper uniform daily. This is a safety issue, not a fashion issue. We want to make sure the right students are in the right areas at the right time every day.
Reminder Dates:
Parent Teacher Conferences: Friday, October 1st
Fall Break: October 11th - 15th - Schools will be closed, but district offices will be open.
Professional Development Day: Monday, October 18th
Asynchronous Mondays
OKCPS has built in seven (7) asynchronous remote learning days as part of our 2021-22 School Calendar. On these days, our teachers will load assignments into Canvas and all students will log-in to learn on their own at home.

District Resources for Families and Staff
OKCPS remains committed to supporting you in every way possible. Below are some resources for families and staff:
58-STUDY (587-8839) for academic support and 587-HELP (4357) for technical support, and our Student Services Team is also available for emotional support and crisis intervention at 587-0489.
OKCPS Employee Assistance Program is available to district staff for emotional support, legal and financial guidance and much more at no cost.
2-1-1 HeartLine is open 24/7 for help with counseling, rental assistance, food pantries, affordable housing, health resources, child care, after-school programs, caregiver support, financial programs, literacy, and job programs. As always, please call 911 for emergencies.
If you or someone you know is thinking about suicide, call 2-1-1 or the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline 800-273-TALK (8255) for 24/7 support.

Thank each of you for your hard work during the first half of the first quarter! Our students, families and the admin team recognizes your dedication and hard work that started in professional development this summer. Please take some time to read the entire newsletter, there is always relevant information for you and your teams.
We will conduct 2 PD days during the first part of Fall Break-Oct. 11th & 12th. These are stipend days, meaning you will get paid to attend. It is highly encouraged that all instructional staff attend.
Teachers, in order to access your teacher's handbook--click on CANVAS> Published Course>JMEMS 21-22>Modules>JMEMS Faculty/Staff Handbook 21-22.
Teachers, please know that your Canvas page should be updated and you need to have at least one week of assignments on Canvas at all times. These assignments will help those students that are quarantined due to COVID. Update these assignments each week and have a system for students to turn in assignments to you. The expectations for asynchronous days (Mondays) is that teachers need to provide lessons/work for students to complete. See the specific dates for asynchronous days below.

September 20 - Full Site Day
November 8 - ½ Site and ½ District Day
December 6 - ½ Site and ½ District Day
January 31 - ½ Site and ½ District Day
February 21 - ½ Site and ½ District Day
March 21 - Data Site Day
April 4 - Full Site Day
Other Professional Development Days:
October 18 - Data Site Day
January 3 - ½ Data Site Day and ½ Record Day
½ Day or Full Site Day: Site Leadership will determine Professional Learning needs of staff based on their site goals and will plan the time for Professional Development. Plans for the day will be submitted to ILD’s. (minimum of 6 .5 hours)
Data Site Day: Allocated time to review important student data such as attendance, behavior, interim benchmark/assessments to plan changes for instruction. (minimum of 6.5 hours)
½ Day District Day: Allocated time for Professional Learning provided by the district that focuses on district initiatives and required Professional Development needs. The district will also provide individualized professional learning pathway opportunities for teachers and staff. (minimum of 6.5 hours)
Record Day: Allocated time to finalize 1st semester grades, any other record keeping, and meet with PLC’s for 2nd semester instructional planning.
Remember to contact Ms. Fields and Mr. Harris if you are going to be late or absent from work before 8am. Also, if it is a planned absence make sure your sub folders are uploaded to your Canvas homepage as well as an announcement to students. Failure to adhere to this directive will result in required training on absences and Canvas protocols.
Let's continue to support our colleagues with good thoughts and prays as some of them continue to deal with COVID-related illness in their families.
SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER/STUDENT ASSISTANCE COUNSELOR-Mrs. Wyatt

We have multiple teams in place with resources to assist with decreasing stress during such a challenging time!

Youth under 18 who find themselves in crisis or dangerous situations can go to any OKC FIRE STATION or ONCUE EXPRESS location and ask for help.
Whether they are experiencing abuse or neglect or need to talk about a problem, help is available at SAFE PLACE LOCATIONS.
When a youth requests help, Pivot is contacted to provide support as needed.
Pivot advocates for those in need, those disadvantaged, those who struggle, those who may be unseen and unheard.
Youth under 18 are encouraged to look for the yellow and black SAFE PLACE SIGN when seeking help.
They can also text SAFE to 4HELP (44357) with their location to find the closest Safe Place location.
