Facts About Quinoa

- Quinoa actually isn't a grain. It is a relative of spinach and beets.


-There are more than 100 types of quinoa (120 to be exact)


-Quinoa is a complete protein. Complete proteins contain all nine of the essential amino acids, which can't be made by the body and therefore must come from food.

Recipe

1/3 cup red quinoa


2/3 cup water


1 cup cherry tomatoes


1/2 cup diced cucumber


1/4 cup diced red onion


2 tablespoons lime juice


1/2 teaspoon ground cumin seed


salt and pepper (to taste)


1 avocado- peeled, pitted, and sliced
