Grading Guidance for Middle School Students:

Per the direction of the Oregon Department of Education - Due to Oregon’s school closure and distance learning, grades for term 3 will be reported on your student’s report card as P (Pass) or INC (Incomplete). This change will be in effect through the remainder of the 2019-20 school year. Students will be given opportunities in the coming school year to work to turn Incompletes (INC) into Pass (P) grades per further detailed guidance in the fall.

If your student is taking a middle school course for high school credit (such as Algebra 1 or Spanish) they will be graded with a P (Pass) or INC (Incomplete) in accordance with all high school students across the state. Grades for these courses will show up on the high school transcript as a Pass or Incomplete and will not impact your student’s high school GPA.

Google Voice

During distance learning school administrators, office staff, teachers, and assistants are all working from home. Since we do not have access to our school phones we are using Google Voice phone numbers. These phone numbers come through as numbers from various cities and states across Oregon and the United States. School district personnel will always leave a message in regards to their call. You may return the call to the Google Voice number that you received. If you receive a text message from the Google Voice number, it is also possible to reply via that number as well.

Attendance

Teachers will begin taking attendance during the week of April 27th. Like many things during distance learning, attendance will also look a little different. Our goal is to regularly connect with all students to provide care, connection, and continuity of learning.

Attendance will be entered once a week into ParentVue on Fridays. The attendance mark will reflect participation and engagement with the distance learning activities provided by your student's teachers. The following attendance marks will be used for the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.

  • PAR will be marked for students participating in the class.

  • CTC will be marked for students you have made two-way contact with during the week

  • NC will be marked for students you have not made two-way communication with during the week

Chromebooks

Chromebooks are still available for students in need of accessing a device. Please reach out to Troy Capps, Dean of Students with any questions about accessing a chromebook for your student.

Community Resource Locator

We are hearing that hotspots for families who requested internet access are still a few weeks away. We wanted to share this website that shows where wifi hotspots are located around Central Oregon.

There are also tutorial videos on how to use your smart phone as a wifi hotspot for your student's chromebook on the EngageRedmond website.
