Stonegate Spotlight: 4th Grade
Our first quarter did not disappoint in fourth grade! It all started at Camp Tecumseh when we traveled back to 1811 where we lived as pioneers. Students helped prepare logs for cabin homes, ground corn to make johnnycakes, fished for dinner, made candles for the log cabins, learned about common barnyard animals, played pioneer games, enjoyed a campfire, and had LOTS of fun at night in our cabins. Back at Stonegate, the Amabilidad house helped finalize a service project that took place last year. Students collected, cleaned, and bagged 200 pounds of plastic caps, in partnership with Boone County Solid Waste Management, to place a purple bench on the playground. To wrap up our quarter, visitors from Vectren taught students about energy safety, natural gas, and renewable and non-renewable resources. We’re looking forward to celebrating Indiana’s birthday during the second quarter!

Some students will also be participating in conferences with their parents as communicated by the classroom teachers. For parents who may be experiencing some difficulty in making arrangements for their child to participate in E-Day away from school as designed during the conferences, each school will have some availability for child care. In order to take advantage of the opportunity, you must register by Monday, November 11th.
Hours of operation:
8:00 am – 2:30 pm on Thursday, November 14th
*Transportation is to be provided by the family. Drop-off/pick-up logistics will be communicated by GROW to participating families in the days leading up to Elementary E-day.
*Students will need to bring a sack lunch.
*Please note that since E-Day homework is not due for one week, access to the computer lab/machines at each school site will be limited. Please contact your child’s teacher for additional access time if your family has needs for a device or does not have access to WiFi at home.

Did You Know?
ZCS, like other public schools, has a no-idling policy for vehicles on campus. The purpose of the policy is to limit vehicle emissions that might be brought into the schools and adversely impact the health of our students and staff. If you are stopped on campus for more than 5 minutes, please remember to turn off your engine. We thank you for abiding by this policy to help reduce the exposure to these emissions.
