Why Keep Backpacks at Home?
Dear Parents,
I am addressing your concerns about the recent request for students to leave their backpacks at home for the last two days of school. I understand that this may have caused some anxiety, and I want to assure you that there is no threat to our school.
This request is because we wanted students to have a stress-free and enjoyable end to the school year. On Wednesday, we asked students to take all their school items home to focus on their classroom celebrations on Thursday. We have an early release day on Friday, so students will not need backpacks. I also want to note that we gave teachers flexibility for students to bring backpacks today. That is why some grade levels did ask students to bring backpacks and some did not.
I apologize for any anxiety that this request may have caused. We want to assure you that the safety of our students is our top priority. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I appreciate the parents who brought this concern to my attention.
I also want to address your concerns about the recent request for extra watchdogs on campus for the last two days of school. I understand that this may have caused some anxiety, and I want to assure you that there is no threat to our school.
This request is because we wanted to provide additional support to our teachers and students. The extra watchdogs will help to:
- Monitor students during recess and other outdoor activities
- Assist teachers with various classroom activities
- Provide a time for our dads to play with their children.
I again apologize for any anxiety that this request may have caused. We want to assure you that the safety of our students is our top priority. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
It is a GREAT Day to be a Mustang!

The Buccaneer Walk
5th Grade Goodbye Walk
Dear 5th Grade Parents,
We are excited to announce that our annual 5th Grade Goodbye Walk will be held on Friday, May 26th at noon. This is a unique tradition that allows our 5th graders to walk the building and say goodbye to their teachers and underclass students.
We invite all parents to come out and cheer on our 5th graders as they walk the track. Cheer your Mustangs as they become 6th-grade students. After the walk on the track, please line up inside the gym hallway so that you can be ready to greet them when they finish their walk.
We will gather in the gym after the walk. This is an excellent opportunity for you to say goodbye to your child's teachers and goodbye to the other 5th-grade parents.
Please do not bring confetti or small fireworks to the Buccaneer Walk. We encourage bells and other noise makers, but please help us keep our hallways clean.
If you have any younger siblings, please feel free to pick them up on your way out of the school. Just let their underclass teacher know that you will be doing so.
We hope to see you there!
