Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school, Pepper Drive Families! Check out this great Welcome Back video from the Santee School District.

We are eager to welcome back all of our Pepper Drive Students next week. Don't forget, school starts on Wednesday, August 18, 2021.

Arrivals:

The school gates open for arrivals at 8:15 and the school day officially begins at 8:30am. Students can be dropped off in designated drop-off lanes in the lower parking lot or upper parking lot. If you plan to walk your student to the gate, please make sure you are in a marked parking space. Due to safety regulations, parents and family members will not be able to accompany students beyond the school gates. There will be staff members available to assist students with finding classrooms.

Breakfast is served between 8:00 and 8:25. If your child participates in the breakfast program (free, no sign up necessary), please drop off at 8:00 at the curb in front of the office.

Class Lists:

Class lists will be posted at 6pm on Tuesday, August 17th. These lists can be found through our school website at https://pd.santeesd.net/. The lists are password protected. The password for Pepper Drive School is color (case sensitive). All students will go to HOMEROOMS on Wednesday morning. Middle School students will be given a schedule of rotations during that day, and will travel together.

Class Assignments/Requests for Changes:

Class assignments often change after the first day of school due to changes in enrollment. For this reason, there will be NO CLASS CHANGES considered until after September 1, 2021. This helps us to avoid moving students multiple times in the beginning of the year.

If you would like to request a classroom change, please complete the following form. These forms are time stamped, and will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis after September 1st. In the meantime, we appreciate your patience.

Dismissals:

Student dismissals are going back to our "normal" times. Students in grades K-3 are dismissed at 2:20pm. Students in grades 4-8 are dismissed at 2:46pm. Please discuss your after school pick-up routine with your child(ren) and show them where you will be picking them up from school (upper parking lot in front of office or lower parking lot by the stairs). Students who ride the bus will be notified of bus assignments and times by the district Transportation department. Once you know your teacher assignment, please contact that teacher via email to notify them of your student's pickup routine (pick up location or bus rider). This helps the teachers to get your student to the right spot at the end of each school day.

School Lunches

School lunches are still FREE this year to all students. Here is a link to the district website for Child Nutrition. There you will find directions for downloading the app to see monthly lunch menus. Sometimes younger students get confused between snacks and lunch. Please talk to your student(s) about whether or not they are getting a school lunch. Our Campus Aides are excellent at connecting with students and offering lunches to anyone needing help getting one. Lunch periods are about 40 minutes long (this includes recess). If you send a packed lunch from home, it is helpful to include only items that students can open without assistance.

Keeping Pepper Drive Healthy

We appreciate all that you do to keep the students and staff of Pepper Drive healthy and safe. We appreciate you notifying the school office when your child or a family member is ill and keeping your student home from school. If your child is a "close contact" of COVID+ individual, please call the office for details on the required isolation period. Our attendance line is live 24/7 for you to leave a message or you can email Ms. Locke at any time, if you have any health concerns.

iPads will be delivered to schools in the second week of school for all K-6 Students. Please be sure your child has all forms submitted within the parent portal of PowerSchool.
