Principal's Message

Dear Ride Families,

COVID Update: The district is proud to announce we have moved from Level 4 to Level 3 in the district Safety Alert System.

We have posted the CISD COVID-19 Safety Alert Levels below. As you can see, we will continue to implement Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3. Some of the points to mention are:

  1. Continue Mask recommended
  2. Limit size of indoor in-person gatherings
  3. Potentially limit/restrict outside visitors and guests.

*In addition to the Level 1,2, and 3 guidelines below.

We are excited about the progress and hope we can continue the trend moving downward.

I feel confident great days are ahead!! We will begin opening the building up to volunteers and visitors. However, it will be a slow and careful opening. One of the wonderful things we will get to do is open our doors to having lunch with your child. Unfortunately, the slow opening and the limited capacity will reduce the number of parents we can have for lunch at a given time. Please see below for complete instructions on how to reserve a spot for lunch.

Ride's Reading Adventure: RRA is in full swing. We are off to a great start and a strong pace. Parents, relatives, neighbors and work peers are being so supportive during this time. As classrooms totals reach certain levels, they (each class) earns a fun activity. We even added a few more to be sure we celebrate with the kids their fundraising successes.

  • All students attend class parties and activities regardless of any monetary donation. The class party/activity is celebrated as a class!!
  • There are individual prizes for students who bring in donations as well.
  • SKR is becoming a Reading Adventure Land for kids to be motivated about reading!

Please see the PTO Website for more information.

Ride's Reading Adventure Day and the Storybook Parade is Friday, October 15th at 9:00am. We have created an outdoor parade (weather permitting) to allow parents to view! Please see instructions below.

Reservation for Lunch at Sally K. Ride

We have a Sign-Up Genius to reserve a spot to have lunch with your child. In order to give all parents an opportunity to sign up, each adult may only sign up once every three weeks.

There is no visitor seating available in the cafe. Therefore, you may eat in a couple of different areas; Art room, library or outside tables (by gazebo or Trike Track), or inside the gazebo. Certain areas will be designated for specific grades. Please see the Sing Up Genius for more details.

Next week, Oct 4-7th will be a slow entry week. We will allow 5 parents per lunch period to eat lunch with their child. Please make every effort to eat outside at picnic tables (weather permitting), otherwise you will see your location to eat in the Sign-Up Genius.

Ride Houses

During the month of September our Ride Houses focused on RESPECT. We are so proud of how our Ride Challengers always model respect in the classrooms, hallways, cafeteria and on the playground.

Check out our September Highlighted House Members. They did such an amazing job modeling respect.

GT Program

Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 17, 2021. Referral form can be accessed through the link below.
