News and Notes

Dear Parents,

Happy Monday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Don't forget that we will dismiss at 11:45 this Friday due to a faculty meeting.

I am pleased to announce that we have a new art teacher, Giverny Petitmermet, who will be starting this week. Ms. Petitmermet grew up in San Diego, California and is the child of two art teachers. She is excited to be joining the family business. Ms. Petitmermet has spent the past 14 years in New York working as an educator, actor, producer, and director. She holds a BFA in Acting with a minor in Art History from Boston University. Ms. Petitmermet is thrilled to share her life long love of art and creating with the students at Transfiguration.

During Lent, our 2nd graders will receive their First Reconciliation. Congratulations to Marcel who received this Sacrament on 2/20 and to Marco and Tessa who received the Sacrament this past Saturday. Please keep the 2nd graders in your prayers as they receive this Holy Sacrament.

Don't forget to register for the 2021-2022 school year! If you register before April 15th, you will receive a reduced registration fee of $125 per child!

Thank you and have a wonderful week!

Ms. Kazan

Lent

As a school we are focusing on Almsgiving which is one of the three pillars of Lent. During the Lenten Season, Transfiguration School will partake in several Service Projects:

MARCH 11 - Charity Dress Down Fundraiser for Texas Disaster Relief

MARCH 25 - Charity Dress Down for HOPE Community Services (toiletries collection) (more information to follow)

In addition, Transfiguration Church is currently collecting Newborn and Size 1 Diapers and Baby Wipes for the Open Door Family Medical Center located in Sleepy Hollow and Ossining. Any day the Church doors are open, your donations of unopened packages may be left in the Green Bin just inside the Church door OR you may send them in to school with your child. Donations will be delivered to the Center throughout the Lenten Season.

Growth Mindset Thought of the Week

Last week, I discussed our school's refocus on growth mindset. So often we focus on our mistakes and our weaknesses. The belief that some people are just better at things than others is pervasive. Growth mindset gives us a framework for perseverance. It is a belief that with practice and hard work a person's intelligence and abilities can be strengthened. Below are some resources to explain this concept for those who were not here last year, or who need a refresher.
