Message from Mrs. Fox
Dear MPS families-
We are excited to celebrate Read Across America week for 2023. This is a fun week of focusing on reading! We are always working to grow a love of reading in all of our students. See below for a week full of fun!
At tonight's Board of Education (BOE) meeting (Wednesday 2/22/23), the updated Middletown Feasibility Study will be presented. You can find more information by visiting the agenda on www.fcps.org and https://go.boarddocs.com/mabe/fcps/Board.nsf/Public . You can also find more information here https://www.fcps.org/capital-program/middletown-campus-feasibility .
We would also like to congratulate two of our awesome MPS staff:
- Ms. Kelsey Van Hook- MPS Teacher of the Year nominee
- Ms. Kathy Masser- MPS Support Employee of the Year nominee
Both Ms. Van Hook and Ms. Masser are an amazing support to students here at MPS! Congratulations to you both.
As we continue through cold and flu season, please help us keep all students and staff as healthy as possible. If your child has a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, they should stay home for 24 hours from the last time of symptom. For example, if your student vomits at 3pm, and there are no more vomiting episodes, the student should remain out of school through 3pm the next day. Additionally, signs of the Flu or COVID-19 should also be monitored and tested for when appropriate. We appreciate your cooperation, as we are seeing high numbers of sick staff and students.
Please see the link below if you are able to volunteer to help with vision and hearing screenings. https://bit.ly/MPSHealthRoom-VisionHearingScreening2023

Mandatory Volunteer Training
We have loved having volunteers back in the school this year. Teachers determine if and when volunteers are needed and share that information with families. If you will be volunteering or have been asked to volunteer, it is important to note that you must complete the FCPS volunteer training.
Volunteering includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:
- Working in the school library
- Hanging art work in the hallways
- Making copies for teachers in the building
- Being a mystery reader in a classroom
- Chaperoning field trips
If you would like to volunteer in a classroom you must first complete the volunteer training using the link below. Please note it can take up to 72 hours for processing. As you plan your volunteer time, be sure to leave enough time for your volunteer status to be updated. No exceptions can be made.
You only need to complete this one time each school year. Volunteers will not be permitted if the training has not been completed and forwarded to MPS. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to keep student and staff safety as our number one priority.
