Background
Exposure to traumatic experiences has always been a part of the human condition. The PTSD diagnosis was the result of an event the individual suffered, rather than a personal weakness. PTSD became a diagnosis from a number of social movements, such as Veteran. One can’t make a PTSD diagnosis unless the patient has actually met the “stress criteria” which is when someone has been exposed to an event that is considered traumatic.
