Happy New Year!
Hello Vista Academy Families,
We hope everyone had a restful winter break! School resumes on Tuesday, January 11th, at 8:15 AM. Please review the new Bell Schedule since we will be adding 3 minutes to the dismissal times each day.
Student Home Test Kits:
Please read Dr. Doyle’s community update and please pick up an at home test kit at the VIC or VHS tomorrow and we encourage you to test your child tomorrow before returning to school. We have to ensure we do our part to keep everyone safe and limit exposures.
Student At-Home Testing Kit Sites:
Vista Innovation Center
836 Olive Avenue
Vista High School
1 Panther Way
Important COVID-19 Information:
As always if you or your family has been exposed to COVID, have any symptoms, have tested positive on a home test, or are awaiting COVID test results, please keep your child home.
Vista Unified is once again partnering with Costco to offer another vaccination clinic for students.
The Magnet Application Window for the 2022-2023 school year will be opening on January 11 and will close on February 25 at 4:30 PM. Current and returning students to Vista Academy do not need to apply, but any student, even the sibling of a current student, who is planning to attend Kindergarten in fall of 2022 needs to apply to be considered. All current 5th grade students need to apply if they are wanting to attend any of the magnet middle schools (VIDA and VMMS) for the 22-23 school year. Please spread the word and we will begin advertising on our website beginning next week.

COVID Testing Center Hours: 8:00-3:30pm- New Holiday Hours
COVID-19 Notification Process Update:
We will no longer be notifying the entire school with COVID notification letters and phone messages. Only classes with direct exposure or close contacts to a COVID positive will be notified. We will provide a weekly update on the number of new cases each week in this update in the health and safety section. For this past week we had 0 COVID-19 cases impacting our campus this week and 0 positive wastewater samples.
Please refer to Dr. Doyle’s latest community update and daily updates on districtwide COVID cases will be listed by school on the COVID dashboard.
School tours will take place every Thursday from 3:00- 3:45pm. The tours will consist of a brief overview of our IB Primary Years Programme and arts integration, a short video of our students in action since we are not allowed to have parents in classrooms with students yet, and visits to see classrooms, arts rooms, and other spaces throughout the campus. There will also be time to ask any questions you might have. Please call the office if you are interested in being part of a school tour.
If you have any questions about our IB program, please reach out to our IB coordinator, Sharon Scott-Gonzalez at email@example.com
