Land & Climate

-Costa Rica is 19,730 square miles

-Costa Rica is a tropical climate

-Costa Rica is located in the coastal lowlands. The average temperature is 67-81 degrees.

-The rainfall season is between May-November. The dry season is between December-April.

There are frequent earthquakes and occasional volcanic eruptions that occur in Costa Rica.

History

- The republic collasped and became a sovereign nation in 1838.

-Costa Rica means "Rich Coast" ( by Christopher Columbus ) in 1502, but it turned out less valuable then expected. There was little gold and silver in Costa Rica.

- It's the most stable democratic government in Central America.

- In the election in 2010, Laura Chinchilla became Costa Ricas first female president.

Government

Costa Rica is a Democratic Republic.

-They have two vice presidents, 57 legislatory, and 7 provinces.

-The presedents serve four year terms.

-They have two parties, The Ruling Social Christian Unity Party and the National Liberation Party.

-You have to be 18 years of age to vote in Costa Rica. Residents have to travel to their own town of birth to vote and celebrate.

-Costa Rica has more economy than agriculture.

-Costa Rica has excellent potential for hydrolectric power.

-Tourists are particually drawn to visit protected areas in Costa Rica.

Vacation Plan

Days At Costa Rica

On day 1 we will arrive in Chicago to board the plane that leaves for Costa Rica at 11:21 AM. We will arrive in Costa Rica at 9:14 PM. We will go straight to the hotel and check in. Then we will go to dinner at one of the resturants at the hotel. After that we will go get a massage at the hotel and head to bed.

Day 2- We will get up and go eat breakfast at the hotel. We will then head to the pool, hang out and read. After lunch we will go scuba diving. We will have dinner at one of the resturants and then go back to our hotel room.

Day 3- We will have breakfast and then a walk on the beach. After lunch we will plan a canopy tour which will cost $50 each. When we return we will have dinner at the hotel and then sit on our deck and listen to the ocean.

Day 4- We will eat breakfast and then go to the pool. After hanging out at the pool all morning, we will eat lunch. In the afternoon we will tour the Arena Volcano and do a Rainforest Walk. It will cost $272. After returning to our resort we get ready for dinner and go to a resturant. Then we will return to our hotel room.

Day 5- We eat breakfast and then head to the Palo Verbe National Park. The total cost is $176. When we return to the resort in the afternoon we relax by the pool. We go to dinner at a different resturant and then go back to the hotel room.

Day 6- We get up and have breakfast. Then we go for a walk on the beach and head to the pool. We then have lunch at the hotel and go floating on the Corbici River all afternoon. The river trip is $93 each. When we return we get ready for dinner. We go to a resturant and then go for another walk on the beach.

Day 7 We have breakfast and go for one last walk along the beach. Then we have to pack our things and head to the hotel. We say our good byes to Costa Rica and board our flight back to the US at 1:20 PM. We arrive in Chicago at 10:18 PM.
