Roynon Raccoon Report

October/November 2020

Volume IV, Edition 3

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Roynon Families,

Fall is upon us. Unfortunately, the Fall of 2020 will be remembered as one filled with fear, worry, stress and uncertainty surrounding all of us during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it will also be remembered as a time when we found silver linings and glimpses of joy. For me, a silver lining has been the ability to go into so many classrooms, albeit virtually, and watch students learn and collaborate together. On a typical day, I wouldn't be able to visit as many physical rooms. Silver linings are often found when we choose a positive mindset during a difficult time. I encourage you to chat with your children about silver linings in your lives. Given a positive mindset, I'm sure you will find them.

As a Roynon community, we continue to hold on to hope and maintain an optimistic outlook. We appreciate all that you are doing to assist your child with distance learning. With that in mind, we are offering a "Parent Support" night on Thursday October 29th, via Zoom. This evening will be hosted by Roynon's fabulous mental health & school counselors: Carolyn Cockrell and Ruby Olacio. Please join us for an evening of learning together. The presentation starts at 6pm, but I will be hosting our annual Title 1 meeting at 5:30pm. The link is the same for both and can be found later in this newsletter.

Thank you for your support of our Roynon PTA. The first virtual book fair was a success. The next virtual Scholastic Book Fair will be from Nov. 23rd - Dec. 6. In addition we have two family food nights planned for the fall.

There is an abundance of information in the newsletter below. . Please scroll thorough to the end, opening links as necessary.
