At the September 15th meeting the school board discussed a date to revisit this if the courts have not taken any specific action and court proceedings are extended for an unknown period of time. The board agreed to hold a vote prior to the October 6th work session or if necessary, hold a special meeting if there is a significant increase in COVID cases and/or staff absences warrant such a meeting.

NATIONAL VOTERS REGISTRATION DAY WAS SEPTEMBER 28

Are you registered to vote?

CCA is asking our community to make education a priority and vote November 2 to fill 4 Board of Education Director seats. While there is no “ideal” board member profile, the Iowa Association of School Boards suggests voters look for these basic characteristics in candidates in order to elect effective board members.

They must have a laser-like focus on improving achievement for all students.

They act with professionalism and integrity when monitoring district finances.

They understand the board’s roles and responsibilities.

They work well as a member of a team.

They can commit the time and energy required to be effective.

ACTIVITIES DURING NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH

Clear Creek Elementary has been celebrating the Hispanic and Latino cultures throughout the month. Ms. Bauer-Olsen has had students learn games and songs during music class. In grades Kindergarten and first, students learned Los Pollitos. The first and second grades learned a game called Vamos Al Jugar. Students in grades 3-5 are learning Alcitron. Students have enjoyed having the opportunity to learn about the origins of the music and games! Ms. Swartzendruber’s class had fun learning Hispanic Heritage facts during Kahoot. Ms. Stanerson has crafted an excellent display in the library highlighting Latin authors and characters for students and staff.
