Beneath the Surface
Please join us for our summer reading program this summer. Our theme for teens and tweens is Beneath the Surface. Teens are invited to read, volunteer, attend programs, create works of art and in the end earn prizes and free books. For details please ask Kris at (317) 745-2604 or Kristink@dplindiana.org . We will have our normal TAB meetings, Anime and Manga Club meetings and book discussions in addition to a weekly program called Teens on Tuesdays @ 2 and Build Guild on Mondays. Additional programs are in the works so check back frequently. Participants will earn grand prize drawing tickets for completing reading logs, attending programs and finding our SRP mascot gnome.
Summer Reading Program for 6th-12th grade students. We will be meeting on Tuesdays at 2:00 pm.
June 17th: What lies beneath: tales and folklore of the creatures from the deep such as sirens, mermaids, Atlantis, etc. We will have trivia, treats, and make something magical from the deep.
June 24th: How things are made: learn some knitting, weaving, crochet to make some small common product. Like beneath the surface of what we see and how it is actually composed.
July 8th:Explore beneath the surface of you by examining how we see ourselves, how the media portrays us and how we want to present ourselves.
July 22nd: Come to this program and learn about makeup and dress up techniques for fun or for things like Gencon or Cosplay events
July 29th: Cracking codes
*Teens who are registered for the summer reading program will get an entry into the grand prize drawing for each of the teen and tween programs they attend including, Teens on Tuesdays at 2, Build.Guild, TAB meetings and book discussions. After each program, each student that attends the program (and signs in) will get an entry into the grand prize drawing.
