PATRIOT PRESS
PLEASANT VALLEY MIDDLE SCHOOL * * * October 18, 2020
Welcome to another addition of our Patriot Press
It's hard to believe that we are almost 2 months into this very different school year. We very much appreciate your understanding and assistance with navigating remote learning together. Teachers are sharing that they are seeing that students are gaining momentum and getting more prepared and organized for their class time. We miss having our students in person, but it is nice to at least hear and see them online. Conferences will be taking place the week of the 26th-30th of this month. Times are blocked out in the afternoons each day to connect parents and teachers. In addition, we will be using Wednesday as an extended day to provide some early evening conferences to take place. Please connect with your child's homeroom teachers if you have questions regarding your conference. Thank you all and stay healthy.
Once again here are some helpful hints:
1) Wake up at a consistent time each day
2) A quiet space set up for learning
3) Please be present for the live Zooms
4) If you have questions then reach out to the teacher right away
5) Go to https://sites.google.com/battlegroundps.org/pvm-online/home for important updates
6) For student tech support please call 1-360-885-5465
7) Take breaks between classes and during non direct teaching class times
Mike Maloney, Principal
Hello Patriots,
I want to celebrate our students who are working so hard during this time. With your support, many of our students are learning and growing in these very difficult times.
If you and your family need support or assistance please call the school, we will work to connect you with resources to support your student's needs. Our teachers are working hard to deliver instruction and support students.
Thank you for your partnership. We could not do this without each of you!

Hello Parents and Families,
Just a couple of reminders from PV campus school nurse, Nancy Boldt:
Flu shots are becoming more readily available, and it is recommended that everyone get theirs. During a pandemic, like we are currently experiencing with Covid 19, it is important that every measure is taken to avoid other illnesses, such as flu and illnesses that can be prevented. It is also important to reduce the risk of getting other illnesses, by making sure our immunizations are up to date. This effort is to maintain and/or improve our personal health and decrease the risk of overloading health care facilities, such as hospitals.
Please continue OR start social distancing, wearing a mask, washing hands frequently and other measures that help us protect ourselves and others.
Returning to school, even in a hybrid model, is dependent upon our county’s number of positive cases of Covid being less than 76 per 100,000 people for a specified amount of time. You can find more information regarding this on the Battle Ground Public School website.
Stay Safe, Stay Healthy

Family and Community Resource Center
Battle Ground Public Schools’ Family and Community Resource Center (FCRC) helps meet the needs of families faced with housing instability and similar economic challenges.
While a main goal of the FCRC is to assist families experiencing housing instability, it can also help connect families with many other types of resources and is intended to respond to the changing needs of the community.
The FCRC is a continuation of the district’s joint efforts with the Battle Ground Education Foundation, an all-volunteer, nonprofit community organization whose purpose is to leverage community resources to help maintain quality education for all students in Battle Ground schools.
The Family Resource Guide is full of contacts to aid families in connecting with agencies who are able to help with a great variety of needs. Please click the link below to view this helpful guide.
