3-13-2020 Teleschool for FCS and Hillside Elementary
Hillside Community,
This is an interesting challenge that we are facing as we prepare for TeleSchool; however, we will get through this challenge together, successfully. Things have developed very quickly over the past week; however, we continue to work and prepare through each of these developments as best we can. I aim to keep communication open for you, and if there's anything you need, please reach out to us. We are committed to doing what we can to support you!
As you now know, TeleSchool (Extended Digital Learning Days) for Fulton County Schools will begin this Monday, March 16th. The expectation is that each child will participate in lessons each day for a specified number of minutes. Some of the assignments will be graded:
- PK-2nd Grade: 30 min reading/ELA, 30 min math
- 3rd-5th Grade: 35 min reading/ELA, 35 min math, 20 min specials (5th grade will also have social studies/science on select days)
- Social Emotional Lessons are also included each week.
All of our staff will be working remotely until further notice. We will all be available each day during normal school hours. Please email your student's teacher with any questions or concerns that you may have.
Some families may be in need of assistance with meals during the closure. The district is discussing plans for how to feed our students who need that support, and when finalized will be communicated to those families.
Each week, beginning next week on Fridays, assignments will be available in 3 different places.
- Emailed by the teacher
- Emailed by the principal
- Uploaded to the school website
Please know that we expect teaching and learning to continue to occur while we are conducting TeleSchool. Parents, we need your help in order for our students to continue to learn. It's important that parents and students go through the assignments each week and complete the required ones. There will be some additional/optional assignments as well.
Thank you for your understanding, flexibility, and support during this time. I hope that you and your family remain safe and well!
