Message from the Principal

Hello Prairie Families,

The Student Council soup drive brought in 464 cans of soup! Our goal was 410 cans. Thank you to all those who sent soup cans to school throughout the week. Shout out to Student Council for their leadership in making this memorable event happen!

On February 14th we will have our first Science & Engineering Day! Students from FLIGHT Academy at Horning will come to Prairie to facilitate a day of science experiments and engineering design challenges. Our students are looking forward to this engaging event!

Have a great weekend!

Carly Solberg

Staff Highlight

HI! I’m Mrs. Baker. I am one of the second-grade teachers here at Prairie. I have had the pleasure of getting to know many of our families at Prairie because I have been teaching here for the past 12 years. If our paths have not yet crossed, please be sure to stop by or find me at one of the Prairie school activities and say “hi”. I would love to meet you! I have been teaching in the Waukesha School District for 21 years and loved every minute of it. When I am not at school, I enjoy going to baseball games, watching football, crafting or just hanging out outdoors. However, my most favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. I am married to my husband, Brian. We have a son (Justin, 19), a daughter (Morgan, 17), and 2 crazy, but adorable little puppies who keep us very busy.

Step it Up

A big thank you to all Prairie families for helping our school during the Step It Up for Heart Fundraiser. Since our fundraiser is almost over, please log in online and check your totals to be sure you reached the prize levels you wanted. If you collected any cash or checks, please return them to Mr. Booth as soon as possible.

ALL students will be able to celebrate our success by participating in the DAY OF AWESOMENESS that will be held in June. The DAY OF AWESOMENESS is a giant “Super Party” with obstacles - inspired by the TV shows, American Ninja Warrior and Wipeout! It is an amazing day of fun and celebration filled with obstacle courses, a DJ dance party, a VIP chill lounge, plus rewards. Any student who raised money and earned rewards will receive them at the Day of Awesomeness.

Our tradition of holding an after school jumping event for 3rd-5th grade will continue this year. Students received their information/permission sheet in class this week. It is attached here if you did not get one.

Thank you again for your support.

Mr. Booth

Artists of the Month

Congratulations to January's artists of the Month!

This month, we have 1st grader, Landon Harris and Kindergartener, Lucy Bayless. Neither of these kids have been at Prairie very long, but they both are excellent behavior role models, show kindness towards their classmates, and demonstrate the Puma Way every day. In addition, Landon and Lucy are super creative and hard-working young artists.

More Art Room Recognition

Please recognize the following young ladies for their hard work and dedication. 5th grade students Brooke Taylor, Chloe Glover, Ella Tuyls, Joselin Flores and Sydney Mirkowski had been working on Art sculptures, outside of class time. These ladies have come in during recess, after school, and even over Christmas break, to design and create their sculptures. These sculptures were on display on Monday, January 20th, at the SDW's One Conference. All teachers and administrators in the district were able to see the beautiful work of these dedicated students. Thank you all, for sharing your talent, and thank you to Mrs. Anderson for assisting them.

Elks Hoop Shoot

Congratulations to Evelyn Dixson and Cameron Becker on advancing to the District competition that was held on January 25th.

Evelyn took second in her division and Cameron won his division. He will move on to the state competition in Wausau on Saturday, February 8th!

Thank you to these scholars for representing Prairie and the Puma Way! Good luck, Cameron, at your next competition!

As we have hit the halfway point of the year, many parents are receiving attendance letters from our office. These letters are generated automatically through Infinite Campus when your child hits either 10 days of tardiness or 5 days absent (any or all of a day), and are intended to keep you informed of your child's attendance. Upon exceeding 10 days of absences (any or all of a day), you may be required to submit a doctor's note for any future absences to avoid the absence being marked as truant. In that case, you would again be informed in writing.

We encourage you to get a doctor's note for any medical or dental appointment your child may have requiring any absence from school. A "medically excused" absence does not count in the total number of days absent. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office.
