Message from the Principal
Hello Prairie Families,
The Student Council soup drive brought in 464 cans of soup! Our goal was 410 cans. Thank you to all those who sent soup cans to school throughout the week. Shout out to Student Council for their leadership in making this memorable event happen!
On February 14th we will have our first Science & Engineering Day! Students from FLIGHT Academy at Horning will come to Prairie to facilitate a day of science experiments and engineering design challenges. Our students are looking forward to this engaging event!
Have a great weekend!
As we stated previously, we are in the beginning stages of planning Puma Palooza, our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are really hoping to make it a bang to add funds for our playground project! We would love to see new faces and minds come together to help plan the event. We are planning to meet before the PTA Meetings from 5:30-6:30. Feel free to join us! We would love to get new donations, funds to help support activities or even businesses supporting activities. If you have a company who would like to be at the event, donate to the event or have ideas, you can email us as well at firstname.lastname@example.org.
PRAIRIE'S GOT TALENT!
Permission slips are due back on Monday, February 3rd. We want to see what talents our students have! We are looking for Emcee's, artists, dancers, singers and all performers! It is such a great event for our students!
Box Top update: We have finally hit over $900 in box tops. We are currently at $902. Next in school collection will be on Monday, February 10th. We still need more box tops for an all school PJ day! Keep them coming in. Students may turn in box tops to their classroom teacher, and check out the bulletin board in the hallway to our see our progress!
Scholastic Book Fair
Our next Scholastic Book Fair is coming up! We will be open during Parent/Teacher conferences on Thursday, February 20th from 4:30-7:30 and during the talent show on Friday, February 21 from 6:00-8:00. Teachers will also have the opportunity to bring classes to the fair on Thursday, February 20 during the school day. Please visit our book fair website to set up your child's e-wallet for shopping during the school day or if you aren't able to make it to the fair you can use the website to shop online! Step it Up
A big thank you to all Prairie families for helping our school during the Step It Up for Heart Fundraiser. Since our fundraiser is almost over, please log in online and check your totals to be sure you reached the prize levels you wanted. If you collected any cash or checks, please return them to Mr. Booth as soon as possible.
ALL students will be able to celebrate our success by participating in the DAY OF AWESOMENESS that will be held in June. The DAY OF AWESOMENESS is a giant “Super Party” with obstacles - inspired by the TV shows, American Ninja Warrior and Wipeout! It is an amazing day of fun and celebration filled with obstacle courses, a DJ dance party, a VIP chill lounge, plus rewards. Any student who raised money and earned rewards will receive them at the Day of Awesomeness.
Our tradition of holding an after school jumping event for 3rd-5th grade will continue this year. Students received their information/permission sheet in class this week. It is attached here if you did not get one.
Thank you again for your support.
Artists of the Month
Congratulations to January's artists of the Month!
This month, we have 1st grader, Landon Harris and Kindergartener, Lucy Bayless. Neither of these kids have been at Prairie very long, but they both are excellent behavior role models, show kindness towards their classmates, and demonstrate the Puma Way every day. In addition, Landon and Lucy are super creative and hard-working young artists.

Congratulations to Evelyn Dixson and Cameron Becker on advancing to the District competition that was held on January 25th.
Evelyn took second in her division and Cameron won his division. He will move on to the state competition in Wausau on Saturday, February 8th!
Thank you to these scholars for representing Prairie and the Puma Way! Good luck, Cameron, at your next competition!
We encourage you to get a doctor's note for any medical or dental appointment your child may have requiring any absence from school. A "medically excused" absence does not count in the total number of days absent. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office.
