NEWS FROM GUIDANCE
Attention Seniors:
- Mid-Year Reports, containing your grades from courses completed in first semester, will automatically be sent to each college to which you have applied. You do not need to submit any forms requesting these to be sent out. Mid-Years will be sent as soon as possible after grades are posted to your transcripts.
- Scholarships – The Guidance Office has posted many scholarships on Naviance, and more scholarships come in every day! In your Naviance account, click on the “Colleges Tab,” and then the “Scholarship List” link. You can sort the list by topical area, or sort by award amount or application due date. Please follow all directions as indicated by the individual scholarship listings. Please visit the Scholarship Information page of the Guidance Website for links to Naviance and other scholarship search databases.
Program Planning
Tenth and Eleventh Grade Counselors will visit English classes next week to review course selection for next year. The deadline for entering course selections is Sunday, February 5th at 11pm. Counselors will then meet individually with students to review course selections and answer students’ questions. Please visit the Program Planning page of the Guidance Website for helpful information, links, and dates.
Community School Programs: Driver’s Ed, SAT Prep
Students and parents can find helpful information on the CB Community School’s website about Driver’s Education classes, SAT prep classes, and other activities.
Naviance for Sophomores
Sophomores will be introduced to Naviance during advisory at the end of January. Naviance is an online planning tool that allows students to take career interest surveys and complete college and career searches. Students will complete career interest surveys during advisory this spring as part of their Career Plan.
2ND Marking Period Report Cards
Report cards will be accessible via Parent Portal on February 2nd.

ATTENTION CLASS OF 2017
Senior Graduation Packets from Balfour were distributed in Advisory on Friday, January 6. This packet contains information about the following: Cap, Gown, Tassel, and Pennant Purchase (Required for Walking at Graduation); Graduation Announcements; and Class Ring. Balfour representatives were at our school on 1/26 and 1/27. If you missed the opportunity to order in person, please mail completed information and payment to Balfour Company, P.O. Box G, Dallas, PA 18612. Credit card payments or checks made out to "Balfour Company" are acceptable. No cash. Please include the $10 late fee if ordering after February 3rd.
Questions about these orders can be directed to Balfour at 540.696.5236. If your student has not received a graduation packet, please reach out to his advisor or the main office.

Guest Artist Visits CB West Art Students!
The CB West art program had a very special and meaningful guest on Wednesday, January 18. Glen Dick, a CB West graduate, spoke to the students about overcoming obstacles and making a great life. When Glen was 25, he was paralyzed from an accident. Glen has limited movement in his hands and decided to pursue his dream of becoming an artist. Glen takes classes at Art Muse studio in Doylestown and has developed a wonderful style and is passionate about his art. Students gained life lessons and were touched by Glen’s story and his incredible outlook on life. Glen is the author of “We Can Go Anywhere: My Adventures on Daddy’s Chair”.
Congratulations to all of West’s Art students who participated in the Phillip’s Mill Youth Art Exhibition!
Phillip’s Mill’s Annual Youth Art Exhibition is one of the most prestigious competitions in which our artists participate. Fourteen local schools, both public and private, submitted work for this special event. The Youth Art Exhibition is open to the public on January 22, 28 and 29 and February 4, 5, 11 and 12. The exhibition is open from 1:00PM to 5:00PM and is held at the historic Phillips’ Mill, 2619 River Road, 2 miles north of New Hope, PA.
