Principal's Corner #3

August 7, 2020

Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year!

I want to start by welcoming you to the 2020-21 school year. As we enter a year of uncertainty, I find myself thinking about my why. Why do I do this? What do I love about my job? What can I do to find balance in my life for the ones I love? What do I have control over, or what are things out of my control? Sometimes these answers are different depending on the day I ask myself, but in the end - here I am ready for another school year, ready to tackle the challenges that lay ahead, and ready to welcome staff and students with a smile. I continue to be honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead our school, and appreciate your commitment to giving your best.

Thank you for all you do,

Work Week Expectations

As you can see in our work week schedule, I am trying to be very mindful of the time needed for you to prepare. Please review the information below as it provides additional information about work week.

  • Certified Staff are expected to be at school Tuesday-Friday, 7:40-3:40.
  • SpEd Collaboration: With possible changes coming, we are hoping to get that information to you ASAP. Our SpEd Team is trying to create a structure that allows some choice for when your grade meets. Please watch for more information to come.
  • Melissa Adler will not be available the morning of Wednesday, August 12th. She will be working on getting all of our class lists rolled over in PowerSchool.

  • Back to School Night will be a live virtual event on Wednesday, August 19th from 5:00-7:00. I request you work together with your teams to present information to our families. Please also consider information that you would like to upload to Schoology or to our COT website for parents to access to.
  • Please craft a brief personal email to welcome your 2020-21 class to the new school year. Our goal is for these messages to go out to families on the evening of Wednesday, August 12th. Please send me your brief personal email no later than 8am, Wednesday, August 12th.

I cannot begin to put words around the appreciation I have of everyone who has helped brainstorm ideas and solutions to our staffing. It is such a humbling experience to have people willing to do whatever it takes to make it work. You are forever appreciated.

2020-21 Cottonwood Creek Elementary Planning Document

Here it is - the document you have all been waiting for: the 2020-21 Elementary Planning Document for Cottonwood Creek. This document has been in the works all summer, and endless hours have gone into it trying to capture every detail and/or situation, but we know that is impossible. Therefore, when you open this document, you will have the ability to insert comments. If you have questions or need clarity, please use the comment tool to do so. This is a working document, so I have the ability to insert additional information as needed. I hope this helps provide some clarity for what our return to school will look like this year. As always, if you need to process, I encourage you to call me. We are in this together.
