South Side Family Newsletter

January 2020

Thanks for supporting us!

South Side Families,

It's pretty neat to be involved with all of your children on a daily basis. We appreciate being a part of their lives and watching them grow up and make progress on a personal level. All of this growth and development takes a lot of commitment on your part as parents. We also know that you do a lot to help your child(ren) to grow academically. Things like reading together, talking about math and why it matters for life, and discussing historical events and science topics really help to encourage kids to work hard to learn more. I would like to say thank you for consistently helping your child to understand the importance of their education. Please reach out to discuss any questions you have or ideas to help make our school the best place for your student to attend each day.

Big picture

Weekly Student Attendance Drawing

Every week, five lucky winners are able to claim a prize just for being at school. I am sure you are wondering how they get chosen for this special privilege. Every student who attends South Side had their name put into a random picker. Friday morning, we have the picker draw out five names. Those five names are then cross checked with attendance to see if they missed any days of school for the week. If they have not, then they get called down at the end of the day to choose a prize. If they missed a day of school, the random picker will choose another name, so that we have five winners.

Weather Delays

Here are some things to remember for school delays:

Monday late start does not apply in the event of a weather delay, all times below are for Monday through Friday.

2 hour delay

Doors open: 9:45

School starts: 10:00

There is no school breakfast on delayed school days

eLearning Reminder

Although we hope to avoid school cancellations the reality is upon us that Mother Nature may have other plans. If your child has experienced any difficulty completing our previously planned ELearning days so far this year, or if you are experiencing any technical difficulties at home with your school-issued device please contact your child's teacher before we start to experience multiple weather related ELearning days. Students do have three school days to complete each ELearning day's assignments, but the process is much better for kids when they can complete their assignments at home on the day of ELearning.

Car Line Reminders

We are happy to welcome parents to our car line each morning and afternoon. We ask that all cars waiting in line please turn off your vehicle, as we do want to promote our car line as a no idle zone. We also want to remind you that all East Noble school campuses are tobacco free meaning that we cannot allow smoking in our car line. Thanks for keeping the air around our school free of smoke and car fumes.
