Jane Addams School Updates

Important Information for our Return to In-Person Families
We have had a wonderful re-entry as our K-6 students have returned these past few weeks. We have adjusted a few safety items we would like to share with all families.
In regards to drop-off and pick-up, it is important to stay in your vehicle for both arrival and dismissal. We will take all students temperature in the car in the morning to assure self-certification. Please arrive no earlier than 7:45. In the afternoon, we are releasing students in primary first and walking them to you. If you remain in your vehicle, we can quickly and safely socially distance. This will allow our older students to quickly locate you and actively supervise these students as they leave each day. If you are a walker, please drop your child off before school and collect your child after school at the end of the drive each day.
If you have lost or misplaced your self-certification lanyard, we have additional lanyards at school. Please make sure your phone numbers are up-to-date in the unlikely event we need to contact you or one of your emergency contacts.
Please send two water bottles and district approved face masks. Your child's teacher sent you a schedule for the day with included additional safety precautions. Please reach out to your child's teacher with specific questions regarding mask breaks, or special needed accommodations.
If you have not done so, return your child's Chrome Book. The 4th through 6th grade students are issued a 1:1 device, but K-3rd grade students will use and keep their device at school. If a child does become ill, we can provide a CB and work for them to complete while they are away from school.
Lastly, students will be eating in the class. We are assuring 6 feet of distance for lunch time. When outside, we are asking students to remain masked. Teachers at Jane Addams have scheduled many authentic opportunities for their class to enjoy the outdoors and our P.E. teacher, Mr. Walker, will be taking them outdoors most every period. Please plan on sending your child prepared for the weather.
We appreciate your support as we return to in-person learning. We are so proud of all our staff, students, and families.
Thank you!

State Mandated Drills
This week we will be reviewing and highlighting our routines regarding the following annual requirements. During the 2020-21 school year, your student will be participating in the following as required by Illinois School Code:
- Three evacuation drills. One of the three evacuation drills must be supervised by the appropriate fire department.
- One bus evacuation drill.
- One law enforcement drill.
- Each school in D15 completes two law enforcement drills annually. One of these two law enforcement drills must be a staff initiated lock-down.
- One severe weather and shelter-in-place drill.
